Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed in a recent interview with Comicbook.com that Henry Jackman will return to score Marvel Studios’ Captain America 3. Chris Evans is returning to star in the title role as Steve Roger in the currently untitled sequel. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia series, Thor: The Dark World) who penned the previous installment in the series are writing the screenplay. No plot details have been announced yet. Kevin Feige (The Avengers, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) is once again producing the project for Marvel. Jackman previously scored this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier for the Russo brothers while the first Captain America movie directed by Joe Johnston was scored by Alan Silvestri. Captain America 3 is set to be released on May 6, 2016 by Walt Disney Pictures.

Jackman’s upcoming projects also include Seth Rogen’s & Evan Goldberg’s comedy The Interview, which is currently scheduled to be released on December 25, 2014. Also coming up for the composer is Disney’s animated feature Big Hero 6, set to be released on November 7.

Here's the interview mentioned: http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/08/25/exclusive-captain-america-the-winter-soldier-directors-joe-and-a/

Joe Russo: From a crew standpoint, it's almost everybody. Henry Jackman's back, our whole technical crew for the most part is back. We're Italian; we love a big happy family. We love consistency and a lot of people did a great job on the last movie."

This'll generate some controversy. Some'll despise it, Mr. Jack will say "chugga chugga" or "bwooooooooomp" or something to that effect, and others will say "woo-hoo".

This score took quite a journey for me. When I listened to the score by itself, before seeing the movie, it was pretty boring. But after hearing an interview with Jackman (about the Winter Soldier's tortured sound/theme) and watching the film, it definitely few on me. I do know that at the least, it works pretty effectively in the film.

Couldn't be happier. Jackman's Cap 2 score is my fav of the year. It did take some warming up too though and seeing the film helped. The score grew on me like a fungus.

Okay, fine. But is there a release date for the CD, at least? Or artwork?

They haven't even written a screenplay yet.

I know there's a lot of mixed reaction on the Capt America 2 score, but I think it worked great in the film. I wish they would have included the film's end credits suite on the disc. It would have made the album a much better listening experience. But I personally liked Jackman's score as well as his score to X-Men First Class. I go back to both of these albums quite a bit for my contemporary score fix! They need to release Jackman's Kick Ass score and not just a digital download that I can't even get here in the US.

Which label do you think would be most likely to expand this? It's been negative 21 months since the film's release already and still no word on an expansion.....

I love it, especially the music from the scene where Captain America, against tremendous odds, defeats the bad guys.

Good thing you covered that up. I wasn't expecting such a shocker.

It's on iTunes now, but not on CD until 2016.

Oh, God.

Captain 2 is not only the worst super-hero score in a very long time, but it’s also one of the worst score of the last few years. Although he has some good works in animated films (and I am a big fan of Wreck-It Ralph’s soundtrack), when it comes to action blockbusters, Jackman is simply mediocre: CA: The Winter Soldier, G.I. Joe Retaliation, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter… X-Men was nice enough, but it seems it was composed long ago, before this horrendous phase Jackman’s music is living right now.

I don’t understand this Marvel guys. Is it too expensive to hire Alan Silvestri back again? Or at least bring some other talented composers, like David Arnold, Christopher Young, John Debney, Michael Giacchino? Or even, if they want to be bold, hire some of those europeans guys who are making buzz with the film music community (Fernando Velázquez, Roque Baños, Abel Korzeniowski, Victor Reyes, Johan Soderqvist… and the list goes on). But, no, they prefer to bring Jackman back only to deliver another generical and annoying soundtrack.

Well, I think the best we can expect is that, at least, if the Winter Soldier really returns, Jackman didn’t reuse his horrible theme.

To each his own. What I love about the Cap2 score is how different it is. Subtle. It doesn't bang you over the head with a big rousing fanfare like most scores do. The music is so much a fabric woven throughout the visuals. At times it is synth heavy but it works. There is a reason for it unlike using it as a crutch like others do. Cap's theme is emotional and downplays his "Star Spangle Banner" in your face persona, because it is not that kind of film. "Taking A Stand" is one of the best cues written in the past 10 years. For the life of me I don't know why so many choose to crap all over this score. I just don't see it (or hear it).
I know I am probaby inviting a ton of nay sayers to follow this post. Would be nice if some would add in bonafide critisms and not just spew negativity. Thats probaby asking too much though.

Excellent news.

My fav' score this year so far. "Taking A Stand" & "Captain America" my most played ones, regularly revisited.

It'll be cool... smile
