I totally love it and would gobble this puppy up in a second on CD! Bought the LP way back in the day and simply adore Legrand's Beautiful score.
Particularly love this gentle rock version of his Main Love Theme! (The intro sort of sounds like an intro to a Love Unlimited Orchestra song and then like John Williams' intro to his cool gentle rock "Lisolette and Harlee" Theme from THE TOWERING INFERNO.) Enjoy!
Who's with me for this 70's Legrand Gem! I just love his music! The album also features some very nice more dramatic and heartbreaking slow versions and variations on that gorgeous theme. This Trailer has some of those nice variations:
Zoob, I concur! I played this LP over and over when I bought it. I think I found it cheap at a local department store and although to this day I've never seen the film, I feel like I have thanks to Legrand's wonderful music...I've got that main theme humming through my head as I type this
Soooo happy to finally see a release of The Other Side Of Midnight (or so it sounds like )!!

Me to PP! Legrand did so much great stuff in the 70's.
Thrilled about OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT and would love to see GABLE AND LOMBARD and Legrand's beautiful ODE TO BILLY JOE follow on CD as well!
I think I picked up GABLE AND LOMBARD pretty cheap as well, perhaps a cut-out and with W.C. FIELDS AND ME which had a great Henry Mancini score. Loved those old 70's LP Soundtracks. Great memories and music!!!
Yes, there are lots of wonderful cd's on the MCA label from the seventies that need a release. Gable and Lombard, WC Fields and Me, The Great Waldo Pepper, The Promise, Paradise Alley, Sometimes a Great Notion.and many others.
However, I remember - back when Intrada released Legrand's "Mountain Men" - Bruce posting something like "good luck Intrada trying to sell this one". I think it was related to the Kritzer experience with "Cops & Robbers"?
Bruce please oh please confirm I misunderstood and that you're in the mood
I see this one coming from Intrada if any label at all. They are the only ones consistently working with Universal Music Group (album rights) and Universal Pictures (rights for all other music to possibly be included), and doing these type of scores at the same time.
Well, we ran out and had to repress Mountain Men, so no complaints. Of course, outdoor adventures are attractive. We'll see how tomorrow's release does as it would be a good indicator on how well Gable would do. I love Legrand when there is a full orchestra in front of him. And we have another Legrand coming hot on it's heels.
I like lots of Michel Legrand's music. The Mountain Men from Intrada is wonderful. Also if I'm not mistaken, Ice Station Zebra was a very successful title for FSM so I would certainly not dare to generalize that Legrand does not sell good as suggested above.
And yes, I would surely be interested in CD of Gable and Lombard!
