And just when things were going so well too. If this article is to be believed (there is some truth in it), then I guess Roland Emmerich's '2012' had a smidgen of prophecy attached. It won't happen tomorrow though, of course.

I guess this means that Tall Guy and Becca should do their Montana Vacation planning pronto.

That's an understatement. Just look how a hurricane adversely effects a localize population for weeks, or months, sometimes years. No electricity, no food, no water. Imagine it country wide for years?

Total destruction of the economy and wealth. The millionaires and billionaires will just move to Switzerland or something. Mass death and disease. It would set the US into the stone age.

If an adversary cared to take it a step further (with their finger on the button) it would be the last nail in the coffin.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the majority population of the US became refugee's in Australia. Lots of undeveloped land there correct?

Solium, your comments brought to mind perhaps my favorite line of dailogue from 'Out of Africa'. When Karen is telling her estranged husband she'd go 'anywhere in the world for him, even Australia. Well, perhaps not Australia'.

Uh, yeah. Go for it.

Have fun living on a slightly friendlier version of Mars.

We'd love to pop in for a cuppa, but it would seem odd for us to plan a trip there when Yogi's probably packing up to leave town.

Hey hey hey - don't forget the pic-a-nic basket!

I take it from the replies Australia is out of the question.
