Sean Connery has long been an advocate of nationalism and independence for Scotland in public and behind the scenes. He wants fair taxation and fair representation for every Scot, a state of affairs that does presently exist under English rule. His motives are not selfish, and joking about it is in very poor taste, to say the least. Connery has become less vocal since the decline of his health, but there is no doubting his sincerity and dedication to the cause. Are you Scottish? Awa an' get yersel' a Scottish sense 'o humour an stap gapin' at thae silly Mel Gibson pickchers Ye daft colonial. Ye're livin' in the 17th Century, mon. An dinnae try tae mak this thread political. Ye'll hae egg on yer face when the vote comes in. The Scots will decide, nae some lunatic. Noo, as regards the kilt, dinna talk tae me until ye can dae all Henry Angelo's Scottish broadsword drill, er ye'll be mincemeat.

For quite a bit, this was a relatively 'fun' thread. But, it's become a bore now. It's my own fault for starting it. However, Best of the Best to The Scots during the coming days!

Two things to remember: (1)...Anyone using the term 'English rule' in 2014 is living in a Mel Gibson fantasyland and doesn't understand the UK system. (2)...Sean Connery has been the butt of jokes ever since the 1960s for his stance on a country he doesn't choose to live in. By the way, in the UK this wouldn't be classed a political chat .... YET ...
