So...it's my birthday soon. And I want to buy some soundtracks (Intrada/ La La Land etc) but was wondering if there are any UK based retailers that I don't know about. Just thought I might avoid customs charges this way.

I've ordered from places like movie grooves and elite soundtracks before, but are there others? And what about physical stores - I seem to recall their being a soundtrack shop in a UK city (Birmingham?) which didn't have an online store but did have a downloadable long list of available CDs.

I don't know of any online stores but The Cinema Store, in London, sells soundtracks from the companies mentioned. Prices vary from reasonable to expensive. They do have an online presence but not many OSTs are included. Worth a little look, though.

Most UK retailers work out more expensive than importing from the US. You might get the discs a bit quicker, but I'd rather save some money & wait another week or two. smile

FSM, Intrada & Moviemusic have always been customs friendly for me.

I thought Moviegrooves was dead - I know Bruce got away from it, I guess he just sold it.

As have LLL records BSX, and Screen Archives, for me. I've always got good service from then even though it's a bit costly for a CD. That said, I'm still waiting for the Deluxe Edition of Star Trek: ID, from Screen Archives. That's a bit worrying without postal insurance :O

Amazon sellers sometimes are good to buy from. I know SAE is one, but some UK ones sell for very decent prices.

Screen Archives have an Amazon Marketplace page, and only charge standard UK Marketplace shipping - £1.26. Worth a look. They don't stock all the new releases, though. Chances are that stuff from recent years isn't there.

UK shops online that I haven't tried:

http://moviegrooves.com/index.php

There's ebay UK too.

However, in my experience the US sellers are often cheaper. I have ordered CDs from Intrada, La La Land, Screen Archives, Kritzerland and Moviemusic, and not once have I been hit by UK customs. This is because those companies ensure that the shipping value displayed on the label is only a few dollars. Therefore the customs people ignore them.

It's also worth mentioning that Amazon US fulfil orders from Intrada, and the shipping to the UK is lower than the shipping prices on Intrada's own website!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/node/index.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A2H7RUKI9DTF49&merchant=A2H7RUKI9DTF49&redirect=true

It all depends on how many CDs you are ordering and how much the individual companies charge. So for Intrada I will use their Amazon page, and anything else I use a mixture of LLL/SAE/Kritzerland/Moviemusic etc.

Any updates on this thread? I'm keen to pick up Old Boyfriends by David Shire, but just looking for a decent price as most cheaper copies are in the US.

Thanks!

I recently priced up Ducktales for delivery to the UK. It would have cost £29. For one CD. That's insane.

For the UK, Ark Square in Japan appear to be the best deal now. Shipping is only $4.80 for a CD and $1.20 for each additional CD. There's a slight markup on the individual titles but when you add shipping, it's still a big saving.

You can't pay by Paypal, though.

Another option... I had a small backlog of Intrada titles I was missing, so, I am killing two birds with one stone by taking a short holiday to Boston and having them delivered to me domestically. The flights are being paid for by air miles and the accommodation by hotel points.

So I get a very cheap transatlantic holiday, CDs at reasonable prices, and Intrada gets some support. Everyone's a winner.

If you fancy a West Coast holiday, you could also book a crazy cheap return flight with Norwegian Airlines from London to San Francisco Oakland airport, and walk into the Intrada offices by appointment... they're just down the road!

Even if they are still running I won't be patronizing them again - I was sold as new a used 'Young Lions' a few years ago. Instead of an apology I was reminded that the disc was sold at a good price!

Perhaps such poor business ethics were the reason for his 'disappearance'.
