As well as Loveless's right hand man Voltaire (The Wild Wild West - plus Dimas in a non-Loveless episode, where he got more dialogue than in his three previous episodes combined!).
I remember an interview with Ted Cassidy in which he complained bitterly about the public often mistaking him for the guy who played Jaws in the Bond films. Cassidy did not think much of Kiel's acting, and said so.
Both are gone now, but their legacies will always be with us.
Sorry to hear this. Mine was the Mean Machine, as Samson,
Most of you will remember him clothes-lining the guard.
Samson: "..I think i broke his ******* neck..." Medic: "..I think you broke his ******* neck..." Crowd Announcer: "..Yes folks, i think he broke his ******* neck..." Samson: "...Told you i broke his ******* neck!!!.."
And the scene where Robert Tessier breaks kiels nose with a punch and he starts crying and Burt reynolds has to reset the nose and get the serial killer to apologise to Kiel. "..He said he was sorry..." says Kiel to the others.
Although he was picked for his size, the man had something and certainly not averse to poking fun at himself.
I heard him on the radio on Sunday, in a program called The Reunion, all about the making of the Bond films, along with: Roger Moore, Brit Ekland, John Glen & Barbara Broccoli. Good program, it's repeated tomorrow at 9am BBC radio 4, & online.
Yes he is most known for the role of Jaws but he have done so many more films and TV-series. By the way I think he may be the only one who have appeared in both a Groucho Marx movie AND an Adam Sandler movie. That ladies and gentlemen is proof of Mr. Kiel`s long career.
In my opinion, he was the one who should've played Shoulders in the "Dick Tracy" film instead of that actor who played him, who I thought was miscast. R.I.P. Richard, I liked you in "So Fine".
Kiel was also great playing a couple of the monsters on the old NIGHT STALKER TV series -- a fine follow up to his memorable TWILIGHT ZONE appearance. I also loved him as one of the bad guys in FORCE 10 FROM NAVARONE. Rest in piece Mr. Kiel, and thanks for the great memories.
I remember him for three films he did with Barbara Bach - The Spy Who Loved Me, Force 10 From Navarone and The Humanoid. However, the last of these is best watched with your eyes closed and if possible an isolated music track.
I ran into him on the street as he was on his way to a "james Bond Special event" at the Castro theater in SF. He was using a motorized bike - so i guess he had trouble walking. We both stopped at an intersection and whilst waiting for the light to change i chatted him up about SPY. I asked him if it was true that he was originally supposed to be killed at the end but he was so popular they filmed a new ending where SPOLIER ALERT; HE SURVIVES!
aS WE CHATTED A CAR made an illegal u-urn and stopped in the middle of the street to take his picture!!!

Speaking of roles he should have played. According to Kiel`s autobiography Making It Big In The Movies (highly recommend it) he claims that he have only turned down 4 roles in his life. One being an action movie he supposed to do but he did not do that in the end. The funny thing is the actor who actually replaced him was none other than Peter Fonda.
