Thanks for that. I found the 3D in "Get a Horse!" to be tremendously well done.....far superior to the main feature that followed it, in fact!

The 3-D in Get a Horse! is remarkable, isn't it. Why Disney hasn't released it and the main feature Frozen in the USA confounds everybody, but fortunately, the U.K. blu-ray is region free. You have to go back to the 1950s to see 3-D as well done as Get a Horse!. Speaking of the classics, don't hesitate to buy Inferno 3-D (Fox, 1953) from Panamint. It's one of the best 3-D films ever made, better than any 3-D shot in the last several years. It's also a good, solid film noir at the height of the genre. Dan Symme's Technicolor restoration does the film justice. I recommend it.

I haven't seen Thomas Jane's low-budget indy Dark Country yet, but it's been highly recommended and is enroute from amazonFrance. It was shot in California and given an extremely limited release. I'm told there's a commentary channel in which Jane says that the distributor dictated how he should shoot the 3-D. He had to follow their instructions even though it limited the depth, but I'm told it's still really good.

Good news:

Panamint has just announced (on another forum) that Fox has authorized them to issue a region-free blu-ray of INFERNO 3-D because sales of the region B edition have been much higher than expected. The region-free edition will be available on Panamint's website sometime in November, probably near the end of the month. It will also be 3-D.

I've bought from Panamint before and they are absolutely reliable. And prompt. The blu-ray arrived within a week.

I'm reliably informed that amazonUK and amazonFrance started blocking purchases of DARK COUNTRY 3-D from the USA, apparently as of yesterday. Has that happened to anyone here?

Hugo, directed by Martin Scorcese.
The only 3-d movie where 3-d is treated like a storytelling tool instead of a gimmick..
