I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that this series as it goes on will never quite generate the viewership and buzz that it got during it's first season with the whole southern gothic murder mystery element and the two powerhouse stars in the leads. Next up: "three cops investigating a crooked deal to develop a high-speed rail system throughout California." Really? That's what they came up with, eh? I'll be curious to see the ratings HBO gets for this beyond the curiosity factor of the premiere episode of season 2.

It's not what it's about, it's how it's about it. Sure there will be some people who leave because it's not the same as the first season, but I have faith in Nic Pizzolatto. But then, I've been following his career since before True Detective.

And to be honest, I love the concept of the self-contained season format where each season functions as its own miniseries. Really helps avoid the common pitfalls of TV shows that live past their prime because the crew runs out of interesting things to do.

Wow!
That last bit seems harsh.
They can do that now? wink

Ironic, if she had a joint before she went on air, that outburst probably wouldn't have happened.
