THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 BONE TOMAHAWK---Patrick Wilson (INSIDIOUS) and Matthew Fox (LOST) will co-star with Kurt Russell and Richard Jenkins in this Western horror movie about an aging sheriff who leads a posse to free people taken by cannibalistic troglodytes. PROMETHEUS 2---Ridley Scott said the Alien Xenomorph won't be in the sequel, "The beast is done. Cooked. I got lucky meeting [HR] Giger all those years ago. It's very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it's obscene. They didn't want to do it and I said, 'I want to do it, it's fantastic.' But after four, I think it wears out a little bit. There's only so much snarling you can do. I think you've got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we've found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start." Scott said about the BLADE RUNNER sequel, "It's on the charts. I can't say when that would be yet, because of [Harrison Ford's] thing with 'Star Wars.' It's a sequel. It's what happens next. It's quite surprisingly clever." Also, Jessica Chastain (ZERO DARK THIRTY) and Michael Pena (FURY) are in talks to co-star in Scott's movie starring Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars. REAL GENIUS---NBC remake sitcom underway based on the 1985 Val Kilmer movie. The remake will be a workplace sitcom about two mismatched co-workers. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---director Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, THE EQUALIZER) said about his remake of the classic 1960 Western that stars Denzel Washington, "It's not going to be something where people won't recognize it, for sure. There's certainly going to be the Yul Brynner type of role, the Steve McQueen, all those roles are there, and the town that needs help. It's a different way in on this one, and the writers did a great job working on it. I'm really excited about it." ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT---Roger Donaldson (THE NOVEMBER MAN) will direct the remake of the 1930 movie based on the World War I novel. PATIENT ZERO---Natalie Dormer (GAME OF THRONES) will star in this movie set after a global rabies epidemic has turned most of mankind into deadly mutants. A man who can communicate with the mutants seeks a cure to the plague and save mankind which includes his infected wife. Stefan Ruzowitky (THE COUNTERFEITERS) is the director. TV RATINGS---NCIS's season premiere drew 18 million viewers which is the lowest ever. NCIS: NEW ORLEANS drew an impressive 17.1 million. MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. season premiere drew 5.6 million viewers. X-MEN: APOCALYPSE---writer/producer Simon Kinberg said Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden probably won't be returning for the sequel, "If we included some of the original X-Men like Storm and Jean and Scott [Summers aka Cyclops] and others in APOCALYPSE, yeah, we would have to recast them because APOCALYPSE takes place a good 20 years before X1, which now insanely was 10 to 15 years ago...It'd be very hard to do, because Halle, Famke and Jimmy and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life." MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN---Asa Butterfield (ENDER'S GAME) is in talks to co-star with Eva Green in this Tim Burton movie based on the children's book. THE THROWAWAYS---movie underway based on the magazine article about cops who use young adults, who were involved in minor crimes, as informants in cases without adequate backup. A young woman informant was shot to death after police lost track of her during her assignment. William Monahan (THE DEPARTED) is the writer/producer. THE WALKING DEAD---Tyler James Williams (EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS) has joined the cast as Noah, but no additional details were released about the character. TED 2---Liam Neeson will co-star in the sequel in an undisclosed role. MARS---Spike TV and Vince Gerardis (GAME OF THRONES) are developing a tv series based on the Kim Stanley Robinson Mars novel trilogy. Robinson will be a consultant. FRANKENSTEIN---modern-day version of Mary Shelley's novel has scientists Victor and Elizabeth Frankenstein creating a monster in Los Angeles. Danny Huston, Carrie Anne Moss, Xavier Samuel and Tony Todd star. Todd and director Bernard Rose worked together on CANDYMAN. DC COMICS---CW President Mark Pedowitz commented on more DC Comics spin-off series, “What you'll see embedded in Flash and Arrow is that we'll have the ability to test characters out. Is there room to grow them into the next show? I can't tell you yet. There are discussions going on.” TUNED---NBC musical sitcom pilot with Zachary Levi (CHUCK) as the star/co-producer in which a New York man's life changes when he experiences musical hallucinations. Eva Longoria is co-producer. POPPLES---Netflix tv series underway based on the 1980s toy line.
