MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

STAR TREK 3--William Shatner confirmed JJ Abrams contacted him about appearing with Leonard Nimoy in the sequel. Abrams said, "I'm calling because the director of Star Trek, the next movie, has had an idea where you might be involved, so I'm calling to find out whether you would be interested."
Shatner replied, "It depends on what you do with the character, but I would be delighted."
He added, "So the news is out that they have an idea that they want Leonard and myself…they might want Leonard and myself in it. But I would love to do it. But how do you get me fifty years later into the movie? I mean how do you rationalize it. I know it's science fiction, but even I couldn't come up with an idea. So that's the news on that."

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---an epic battle scene described by a source as a, "pivotal fight scene amongst some of the new main characters" and involving thousands of extras was filmed.
Also, director David Fincher (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) said he was approached by Disney to direct EPISODE VII, "I talked to Kathy [producer Kathleen Kennedy] about it, but I think that it's a different thing from... I don't know what Disney-Lucasfilm will be like. It's tricky. My favourite is The Empire Strikes Back. If I said, 'I want to do something more like that,' then I'm sure the people paying for it would be like, 'No! You can't do that! We want it like the other one with all the creatures!'.
I always thought of Star Wars as the story of two slaves [C-3PO and R2-D2] who go from owner to owner, witnessing their masters' folly, the ultimate folly of man... I thought it was an interesting idea in the first two, but it's kind of gone by Return Of The Jedi."

THE WALKING DEAD---the six characters for the spin-off prequel pilot are:
Sean Cabrera: A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.
Cody Cabrera: Sean's whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.
Nancy Tompkins: A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there's an edge to her.
Nick Tompkins: Nancy's screwed up teenage son. He's too old to stay home, too scared to flee.
Ashley Tompkins: Nancy's mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother's failures. She loves her mom but it's time to get out of Dodge.
Andrea Chapman: A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea - yep, another Andrea! - has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.

THE AVENGERS 3---a source said the sequel will be released in two parts similar to the Harry Potter and Hunger Games franchises. The source said it is, "pretty confident of its content".

THE FANTASTIC FOUR---a source said the reboot movie has Sue Storm (Kate Mara) as the adopted sister of Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan). The source added, "In the film, the team will gain their powers through a lab experiment gone wrong in a way, where they create a portal to another world or dimension (it's not clear) and they get their powers after the exposure to this other dimension/planet. Much like how the group gets their powers in the Ultimate Fantastic Four comics, after they are engulfed in a failed teleporter experiment."

THE JANSON DIRECTIVE---Dwayne Johnson is in negotiations to be the star/producer of this Universal Pictures movie based on the Robert Ludlum novel.

LONDON HAS FALLEN---Babak Najafi (EASY MONEY II: HARD TO KILL) will direct the sequel to OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.

THE MENTALIST---CBS cancelled the series with Season 7 being the last.

COLONIA---Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl star in this movie about a young woman who joins a dangerous cult in order to save her husband who was abducted by Augusto Pinochet's secret police in a 1973 coup in Chile.

DARK WAS THE NIGHT---horror movie starring Kevin Durand (THE STRAIN) and Lukas Haas (WITNESS) in which a sheriff and his deputy must save their small town from a monster accidentally unleashed in by a logging company.

I know you use material from elsewhere (and believe me, I appreciate your posts a lot!)....but they are wrong....wrong county, and wrong country....proud Gloucestershire landmark....and I did go along to have a look at the filming but couldn't get anywhere near....very sadly! Actual location (or one of them at least) was Puzzle Wood near Coleford...familiar to Doctor Who fans everywhere!

EDIT - I've just read these posts back and it does seem like I'm being combative....apologies, I'm really not....all written with big smile on my face and a nagging need to find the original article and bitch-slap the original author wink ....Wales indeed!!

MR. GREG:

Thanks for locating the mistake. The last couple of years the websites with the original articles I use are filled with mistakes.

From what I hear, the storyline of the third one might actually call for two movies to do it justice for once.

As it's been edited can you tell me which film/show the comment was linked to? As a Bristol boy the Forest of Dean is very close to me too.

While I won't be seeing any of the "new" Trek movies, the fact that Nimoy is in talks to appear is a good thing. That recent photo of him in a wheelchair was alarming. Let us hope that the Great Vulcan continues to Live Long and Prosper. smile

I'm still holding out hope that they'll make the film even more Politically Correct.

I don't care...I'm fucking SICK of greedy studios cutting movies in half to extort more money out of audiences. mad If they need to extend the story of Avengers 3, just use Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 (or whatever) to cover it. The Marvel films are all interconnected anyways.

I understand being upset over something like The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight, etc splitting up single books into multiple movies. But the Marvel Universe is telling, as you mentioned, a large series of interconnected movies. How is a plotline across Avengers 3 and GOTG 2 any different than a plotline across a third and fourth Avengers movie? Either way you'd be paying to see two movies for the same story.

I also doubt they'll be cutting movies in half - since it's 4 years or so until Avengers 3, they don't have a script. If this rumor (just a rumor, BTW) is true, they're PLANNING for a two-movie story. I guarantee each of these movies will be feature-length 2+ hour movies.

This is exactly it.

Avengers 3 and 4 are not a pre-existing unified book split into multiple films. They had an idea for Avengers 3, decided it was too ambitious and want to make it larger. Thats all. Its not like the other things mentioned in the quote above. Chill.

Also: though seeing Nimoy in the wheelchair was disconcerting, he's since mentioned it was because the hospital didn't want him walking long distances. It happens with age. He can still get around walking, its just a risk of sorts.

Re. Avengers- Do the actors get paid for one movie or two? If their not milking the franchise to death, perhaps their just trying to get the most bang for their bucks. We know "Iron Man" is like a quarter of the budget!
