I guess we are not that bad with many things like "Peggy Sue", "Mr. Moses", "The Betsy" and "The Dove" (not to mention "Tamarind Seed", "Raise The Titanic" and "Lone Ranger") happening during the last few months, but there are still plenty obvious candidates that should have happened by now:

- Dances With Wolves complete
- Dr. No, FRWL, GF and the post-LALD Bonds
- Somewhere In Time, Out Of Africa, Cotton Club?
- Deadfall complete
- Mary, Queen Of Scots complete
- Walkabout original
- The Lion In Winter original/complete
- Indecent Proposal
- Jagged Edge re-issue
- Boom
- Follow Me
- Zulu complete
- Midnight Cowboy complete

Add to that the three DVD/Blu-Ray titles mentioned above frown

30 years now FIRST in my JB wish list: "Séance on a Wet Afternoon". ¿Will it ever be?

I'm a big Barry fan. However, I'm willing to wait for expanded releases whenever possible. What is the status of 'Out of Africa' and 'Somewhere in Time'? Could expanded versions be released one day? I'm tired of waiting smile

In the meantime you could buy the perfectly good rerecordings of both scores by the RSNO available on Varese. They both feature extra music, the sound is good and it's difficult to see how the originals could be much better. I actually prefer listening to those recordings nowadays than the OST.

Frankly, I'd be more interested in stuff that has never been released than expanded versions. Requests like complete 'Dances', 'Lion In Winter', 'Out Of Africa', 'Somewhere In Time' and even the Bonds are beyond me, as they are well represented on CD as is. Maybe not complete, but I can live with what is available. I'm more grateful for the previously unreleased and new rerecordings we've got in recent years than slightly 'expanded' stuff.

But again, that's just my opinion. I suppose this board wouldn't be the place it is without people clamouring for expanded and complete releases.

-----------------------------------------------------

But this board is full of people who do want a complete original score.

Pretty apparent when you get threads about a few seconds of missing music on The Egyptian, or wanting an inferior original of Conan the Destroyer just because it was conducted by Basil.

I agree that I would prefer the best sounding and exciting release possible, even if it is a re-recording. It's still the same tunes, and they often provide better listening experiences than the originals.

I'm halfway through listening to Batman Animated Series Vol. 3, and I realise I'm now bored with a random selection of action cues that don't really provide a cohesive, smooth-flowing listening experience. Having 4 CDs of everything(?) is just too much in this case. Yes, I could "edit" my own tracklisting, but not when I'm just putting the CD in my hi-fi to play it.

Only half the cues in DANCES WITH WOLVES are on disc.

Now, admittedly, that's not half the score in running time, because we're talking mostly really short cues. However, there is still probably more unreleased music from DANCES WITH WOLVES than there is from most people's expanded score wish lists. Don't think that 70 minute "complete" CD from Didier C Deutsch was everything or even remotely close. Far from it.

Your statistics:

Cues counted in film plus known non-film album tracks: 68
Number of those represented on disc: 34
Total music not yet released: 32 minutes

And that's not including any alternate versions we aren't aware of. Those stats are based only on what's publically available, i.e. what's heard in the film and what's heard on CDs.

Cheers

Yes, Stephen, I've been longing for the majestic legato violin arpeggios of the cue when John Dunbar and the unconscious Stands With A Fist are approaching the Sioux village.

Also, in A View to a Kill, the suspenseful flute rendition of the "Destroy Silicon Valley" theme that plays after Stacy checks her computer to confirm the source of the tremor she and Bond feel shaking her house. That little gem had me running that segment on A-B repeat for a few days.

And as I recall Barry said he recorded a demo theme on piano.

I have never been interested in re-recordings. If the original recordings are available in a complete state, that's what I want.

Any chance of Inside Moves ever being released on CD?

I watched this last night for the first time and it is a forgotten gem of a movie and has a fantastic theme by Barry.

Being a Barry completist, I have the LP but it is just a soundtrack with very little score.

Would love to see the whole score hit CD.
