No idea if he is doing more concerts but either way this one will be probably one of his last.
The tickets are sadly insanely expensive and he will be using his favorite Czech National Symphony Orchestra for a change...

Aren't all Morricone concerts cancelled in 2014?

In any case, I think I'll pass on future Morricone concerts from now on. I managed to see him once (in 2010), and I think that will have to suffice. I'm not THAT big of a fan -- especially not when the prices are what they are and when there's so much uncertainty connected to his actual appearance.

I've bought a ticket for the one in Birmingham in December, but who knows whether it will happen? Has he made any public appearances since his injury earlier in the year?

I'm not.
Fortunately, I've seen him in London on previous occasions and his ticket prices have jumped into the 'comedy value' range now (I think the cheapest tickets for that Manchester gig start around £52 and jump up to £90+ for any decent view seats).
Affordable...YES. Rip-off prices...Most Certainly!
It's been a good calendar year so far, concert-wise, having seen Patrick Doyle, Danny Elfman, James Horner in Vienna (David Newman conducting)...and with Horner Violin Concerto and Alex Desplat still to come before Chrimbo.
Plus, the Horner Horn Hor Ho Concerto is happenin in London March 2015 smile

I bought a ticket for Frankfurt Dec. 6, since I happen to be in Europe (but not exactly in that city). I will also be checking announcements. The NYC show was cancelled quite at the last minute and I really hope this does not happen since otherwise I'd rather spend my vacations somewhere else than Frankfurt.

December 17th 2014, Ziggo Dome Amsterdam. This concert was scheduled to take place about a year ago but postponed twice because of his fall in Switzerland. Let's hope he will be able to do it this time.

10 days later in the same venue I will go to Blue Planet in concert with George Fenton.

Today, November 10, 2014 celebrates the legend of film music of his eighty-sixth birthday. A speculation, which takes its life force! With age and the formation of younger though !!!
Proof of this is the upcoming grand world tour 2015 "My Life in Music". The concert will take place together with the Czech National Orchestra

Or at least that's what Google thinks he's saying

Morricone is most known for tunes to westerns. Unforgettable songs for the films Once Upon a Time in the West, for a handful of extra dollars or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly He also earned many prestigious awards. Four Grammy, Oscar award for Lifetime Achievement, several Bafta awards and two awards from the European Film Academy. Not only westerns and collaboration with director Sergio Leone gave Morriconemu glory. Are also popular motifs of film professionals with Jean Paul Belmondo, Octopus television series or movies of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Django Unchained. Prague is so going to one of the most important composers of modern times.

THAT is the translation of what it says under the video. Morricone (that is his voice) doesn't talk about himself in the third person.

Here is the very rough translation Babylon gave me of what is said in the subtitles as he is talking:
I'm glad I'm going to have a concert on Ceske republicky where I had concert in Prague and I am very st'asten from there back to work. Thank you for that from your fill of Sal and you have me hear your

Don't know when he said this but sounds like he intends to come, but again, his doctors may have other opinions.

Still insane prices, even in Norwegian terms. How can the average Czech income cope with that?

Very badly, not to mention that the hall SUCKS big time and it is used mainly for some rock concerts or sport events... or whatever. And yet... people are still coming to these for whatever reason and they are always packed.

I think I'll rather attend some of our own concerts that are located in proper concert hall settings and cost 1/3 to attend and there is a ton to choose from these days in Prague!

Going to see John Debney's Passion (under his own batton) tomorrow YAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Then Tommy Tallarico has his Video game live in Prague with CNSO only a few days later - not going unfortunately as my tiny budget can't allow everything.

Early/Mid July Hollywood Night - anual part of Prague proms devoted to film music. CNSO conducted by Carl Davis.

Prague Proms will also include THE GODFATHER live - very silly idea in my book considering length of the film and amount of music - sadly Nino Rota is not live anymore to flesh the score out just like Silvestri did with BTTF recently. CNSO.

August 21st Patrick Doyle/William Shakespeare Concert - collaboration between FMP, Prague Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare Festival. Should be good, although my suggestions probably didn't go through. :-/ Prague Philharmonia and James Shearman.

September 27th (if I remember correctly +/- a day or two) - James Fitzpatrick's Miklos Rozsa concert with Nic Raine and CPPO. A MUST!

October 25th - Finally Michael Giacchino in Prague! Hopefully he will be able to attend since he was on our wish list since the beginning but there always was something that prevented him from attending. CPPO, conductor will be announced shortly (hopefully).

December 21st (again +/- a day or two) Star Wars concert with CPPO and James Shearman.

-----------

Janury 15th 2016 Morricone... probably won't go considering insane prices and terrible hall.

and then we'll see what next year will bring in terms of several already planned FMP events. :-)

Wow, you're pretty spoiled down there, film music concert-wise. Totally envious!
