This goes to show Basil that not every film that Cutting Edge has a hand in does Varese put out on CD. I work at Varese and do not know the going ons of Cutting Edge or what films they are doing. Keep up that positive kind attitude Basil!!
Why I wasn't sure what Cutting Edge did on Box Trolls goes to show once again they are separate entities. Hope this makes sense buddy boy!! I know since you don't work at Varese it can get confusing as a lot of time you or others have to guess at facts.
Cutting Edge guarantees its composers a CD release of the scores they produce through the Cutting Edge Group. If another label comes to them and negotiates the release, that's fine. If not, they have Varese to issue it. Either way, there's a CD.

I have no idea if they do or not as I don't sit in at their meetings, but it appears that you do. You must work for them in some capacity OR you are a composer who was given this information in either a contract or other means. Tell me your real name as I may have seen you at the office, that is if you work there. I never looked at the fine print of contracts as I don't work on the Cutting Edge side, but you apparently have seen or know about contracts of Cutting Edge with composers. See you learn something everyday! I wonder who you really are. Now I'm scratching my brain to figure it out

His real name is GARY WRIGHT, He has a long history of offering opinions on topics he really hasn't a clue about on this board and I highly doubt he has ever had any dealings directly with CUTTING EDGE or their staff or directors or has any clue about their inner workings of there business policies, etc
Whatever he's going on about is based on third hand at best.
You are free to ask "The Powers that Be" at CUTTING EDGE or VARESE if they have every spoken with him or done business with him on any level.

Be my guest. I'd love to hear that answer.

Thanks so much Ford for the note and I can tell you there is NO Gary Wright who works at Varese/Cutting Edge. I wonder why someone would STATE stuff as fact when they have NO clue? Opinions stated as fact are not a good idea. I'm scratching my brain why someone would do this. Very strange to me. Thanks Ford for the note though
Varese may not issue Club releases as often as I, or many others, would like, but when they do I still enjoy them. I still frequently listen to the Abyss and STID releases from earlier this year. So I wouldn't call them the M. Night whateverhisnameis label of the soundtrack world, since I dread new films from him and don't enjoy them when they come (after the live-action Airbender, I'd have paid good money to see him run out of Hollywood).
I don't think anyone expects Varese to match the release schedule or output of LLL or Intrada, but a couple new Club titles even once every 3 or 4 months would be great.

THANK YOU! The nice comments mean a lot. All the other AWESOME BEYOND CRAZY WONDERFUL labels that put out limited edition of older titles much frequently put a LOT of work into them. I still can't believe Quartet gave us Terms of Endearment, recently. WOW! The time we are living in with releases is unprecedented! Remember all those 30 minute Varese albums back in the day? Ughhhh. Course now we know why they were 30 minutes as the union rules and cost. Anything over that and it wasn't feasible and Varese would have been out of business long ago.
We're so lucky we have all these great labels, and Varese who pretty much paved the way way back in the late 70's with soundtracks!

Really? So what do you think of this statement:
"The strategic advantage in joining with Cutting Edge includes an expectation that all or most of the five dozen films with which Cutting Edge is involved annually will now release a score via Varése Sarabande".
Did the person who said that also "have no clue"? Are you still scratching your brain wondering why someone would say such a thing?
Well, it's a direct quote of Darren Blumenthal, in a New York Times interview. He's the Managing Partner of the Cutting Edge Group. He owns your employer, Varese Sarabande. His U.S. Head Office is the very same address you work at. Is his voice authoritative enough for you, or is what he says "very strange" to you?
My earlier posts simply reiterate what Cutting Edge management has stated in several articles and interviews. If you disagree with Mr. Blumenthal's statement and strategy, perhaps you should tell him so. That way you can add his autograph to your collection, when he signs your P45.

I looked at the release schedule. Seems to me that while VS is releasing a lot of CE titles, they are still active releasing OTHER non-CE projects like:
Penny Dreadful Bates Motel Dan Curtis' Dracula The Equalizer House Of Cards Into The Storm Ninjago Shameless Snowpiercer Lock Up Who's Killing The Great Chefs Of Europe Porky's Revenge Strike Back Star Trek Into Darkness Deluxe Addicted Hero Of Color City
So can we at least agree that VS is working with both CE and non-CE releases? Seems to me they are still quite active in releasing things acquired from outside their company.

It's nice to know that Mr. Wright can use google when you push him to do so.
Worth nothing that he doesn't link this interview or who conducted it.

Now you can't confuse the poor soul with things like "Facts"...
I wish you the best Gary and hope you continue to post on the boards and keep actively picking up all the latest soundtracks from all the labels. Your continued support helps keep us going!

If Varese releases ROCKY V, ROCKY BALBOA, THE BIG BLUE, THE SEDUCTION OF JOE TYNAN, 8 SECONDS, DYNASTY, FALCON CREST or BABY BOOM they will be right near the top again with me.
You would be happy, but a lot of others would be upset because we didn't:
Release some OLD scores Release some Goldsmith scores Release some LP to CD scores
etc. etc.
Out of all of those choices Henry, I'd LOVE to see Baby Boom.
I'm also hoping HARRY & TONTO will come out sooner or later. But back to BABY BOOM, I'm hoping the missing reels will someday be found. It such a good score I don't want to give up on it.
