John Paesano has been hired to score Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series Daredevil. The show based on the Marvel Comics character and stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson and Scott Glenn. The series follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield) and Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel) are executive producing the Marvel Television and ABC Studios with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville). Daredevil is set to premiere in May 2015 on Netflix.

Paesano has previously scored the film adaptation of The Maze Runner, which is currently playing in theaters. A sequel has recently been greenlit for a release next fall. The composer’s other previous scoring credits include the animated series Dragons: Riders of Berk, NBC’s Crisis and the feature When the Game Stands Tall.

Oh no. Not crisis which had this piece that sounded like "oh no more how much can I take" were the words for the music.

I'll probably check out his music for the Daredevil series. I wasn't crazy about his score for the movie The Maze Runner, but it was decent enough and showed that he had promise, so maybe he'll excel on the smaller screen.

Yup. Show is great. Score is not. It's your usual Marvel no themes, heavy electronics approach.

Just watched pilot. Action scoring seems so-so. On the other hand, there's some lovely intimate music for some of the more quiet scenes.

Watched the first two episodes so far. Not particularly impressed by the music, considering it is pretty electronics focused but I'm used to passable scores in TV shows.

Too bad they didn't get someone like Carlo Siliotto for this. A good show, can you imagine how much a classy score could have elevated it?

The music in the finale is terrific! The main theme is utilized to great effect during the costume reveal and fight with Kingpin.

This series is great! I plowed through all 13 episodes in under a week and was very impressed. The cast is terrific and the serious/dark tone is perfect for the story. Paesano's score is average. The main theme is decent and is used to good effect in the finale, but it still left me wanting more substance. I hope Netflix does a Season 2. It would nice to see the score evolve into something bigger and better as the characters develop. Definitely recommended if you have Netflix. It's worth a watch!

The series is amazing with outstanding performances from Charlie Cox and Vincent D'onofrio.

The score is unremarkable. A Facebook friend of mine (whose knowledge of film scores seems to start at The Bourne Identity and end with The Dark Knight) raved specifically about the reprise of the main theme in the climax of the season finale. When I watched the scene it came off like a ticker tape parade for someone no one cared about. The theme (and all of the underscore) is so completely generic.

Hope they do better in season two.

Yeah, because Captain America, Iron Man 3, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Thor 2, Agents Of Shield, and Age Of Ultron is all no themes and heavy electronics.
Give me a break.

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are generic Brian Tyler fodder, Captain America I'll give you, at least until they dumbed down the thematic elements for the sequel. And Agents of Shield started out very thematic and orchestral but has been getting progressively more electronic and unmemorable in its second season.
