My review of this interesting score by Michael Salvatori, C. Paul Johnson, Martin O'Donnell and Paul McCartney (yes, that Paul McCartney), for those interested:

I mostly agree. There is some solid material here but a lot of less interesting material as well. I would have been interested to see McCartney do more work on the composition here since I really liked his classical works but that was not to be.

The tracks labelled “Excerpt…” are reportedly from an album O’Donnell prepared in advance of the game being finished, “Music of the Spheres”, which will hopefully get a release by itself some time (I suspect it would be absolutely spectacular).

To answer James: Music of the Spheres is quietly in the midst of a so-far private legal process.

Well, the game cost around $500 million to produce. Now I know where the money went.

I'm a big fan of the game, (looking forward to this week's DLC drop) and finally ponied up the money to buy the Amazon download ($8.99 is pretty darned reasonable for over 2 (+) hours of music). Had an iTunes gift card, so I also bought The Taken King.

The McCartney connection is interesting.

I would love a full-on, extended version of The Rose. The piece has some of the best battle music in the game.
