Well, that's stretching the topic starter's parameters a bit far, I think. But any excuse to list one's wish releases is game, I guess. wink

Did I misunderstand? Was it supposed to be never before released CD's? If so, my bad lol.

No, it was more the 'it has to be one theme only' thing.

1. GoldenEye Complete
2. Moonraker Complete
3. A View to a Kill Complete
4. Octopussy Complete
5. The Spy Who Loved Me Complete
6. Tomorrow Never Dies Complete
7. Die Another Day Complete
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Complete
9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II Complete
10. The Mummy Returns Complete

How do the last three tie in with Bond? They're all hero movies. These are probably the ten CD's I would release.

I thought tomorrow never die complete was released on chapter III

The (long OOP) III release of TND was not complete. It adds about 25 min. of additional score but several tracks are missing including "Station Break" and the k.d. lang track, and smaller cues are missing as well. The isolated track on the DVD and blu-ray has the full score but several tracks have intrusive volume changes. I would love to see a 2-CD deluxe release of this as well as Die Another Day (the official release was a poor representation of the score) and Casino Royale (to integrate the I-Tunes exclusive tracks and the title song ). I'd also like expanded releases of World Is Not Enough including the Swiss Bank and the faux-Barry skiing tracks.

This is a no-brainer for me: scores that have not been released in any format.

I don't have time for a complete list of 10 right now, but it would include Sol Kaplan's WAY OF A GAUCHO, John Douglas' CRACK IN THE WORLD, Nelson Riddle's EL DORADO, and William Alwyn's SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON. (Pop re-recordings that don't really represent the score don't count as a "release"...nor do short suites in anthologies). I'll try to come up with the balance when time permits, but some unreleased Goldsmith and Williams will probably be there.

I still don't understand the obsession with expanded scores over totally unreleased scores. It must be a generational thing...younger collectors who grew up with almost every score they admire getting a release of some kind and thus not having a backlog of scores they never got in any form.

That said....I'm still eagerly awaiting the expanded TEN COMMANDMENTS. smile

I have been thinking about my own question that I posted and I think I would release music from Falcon Crest. That show was on for 8? years and had fantastic music.

Out of the ideas that you guys came up with, I think I would have to go with the 10 Frank Skinner CDs. He is so poorly represented on CD.

OK...so here is my 10. It's a fantasy list so I'm going on the "if I had the money and could commission recordings of material for which the original tapes are lost" scenario.

1) Sol Kaplan's WAY OF A GAUCHO
2) John Douglas' CRACK IN THE WORLD
3) Nelson Riddle's EL DORADO
4) John Williams' THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS
5) John Williams' THE RARE BREED
6) Jerry Goldsmith's BLACK PATCH (perhaps paired with TV scores from Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Have Gun Will Travel, Rawhide, Legend of Jesse James, etc)
7) Franz Waxman's THE FURIES
8) William Alwyn's SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON
9) Dave Grusin's TELL THEM WILLIE BOY IS HERE
10) Mario Nascimbene's WHERE THE SPIES ARE

What's the theme that binds these together?

I stated it a couple of posts earlier, but should have repeated it with the list:
"scores that have never been released in any format" (short suites in anthology recordings and pop or easy-listening LPs that are unrepresentative of the score don't count...like EL DORADO).

I suppose the re-recordings of lost tapes theme might work, but that wasn't my thinking...I'm not sure that is the case for all these scores...some may be extant. They are just great scores that have never been released...something I would prefer to see over more expanded releases of 80s-90s action and SF films that have seen multiple releases.

People want what they like. While the thought of many of these 90s scores being expanded does nothing for me, I understand that people have different tastes.

At least such releases better allow labels to offer more of the great Silver Age premieres that you and I love so much.

Good point. At least we are getting some of both. I just prefer my Silver (and Golden) Age premieres.

But they all have to have something in common. What commonality would you pursue?

An unrepresented (or poorly represented) composer? Decade? Movie series? TV series?

Rejected scores? Or something else?

Something else...

There must be unreleased concert hall music from A list film composers that's never seen the light of day.
