TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14 CAPTAIN AMERICA 3---spoiler alert (see below). THE WALKING DEAD---Season 5's premiere drew17.3 million viewers which broke the record of Season 4's premiere and set a cable tv premiere record. GOTHAM---Fox ordered six new episodes which gives the series a full season. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---director Brad Bird (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-GHOST PROTOCOL) said he was unable to direct EPISODE VII because of a schedule conflict in directing TOMORROWLAND, another sci fi movie, "We were already deeply into this [TOMORROWLAND] and it was down the road a bit. For a moment there I thought it would work out to do this and go right into it [EPISODE VII]. What wouldn't work... it [EPISODE VII] was supposed to be the Summer of that coming year [2015] and there was no way to make that schedule and give this film [TOMORROWLAND] the attention that it deserved. So I had to step away." THE X-FILES 3---Gillian Anderson commented on the status of the third movie, "Uh....uh... uh... Sorta kinda. Keep your ears to the ground." Last year, David Duchovny said: "All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to 20th Century Fox at this point." Anderson commented on the all-female GHOSTBUSTERS reboot, "OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I'm free!!!!! I'm free I'm free and I'm funny, goddamnit" BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---producer Charles Roven commented on Wonder Woman in the sequel, "She has powers. She's a goddess. She's a demi-god. Her father was Zeus." HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS 2---writer Tommy Wirkola commented on his script, "The script is really cool and opens up a new world of Voodoo. So that's the world where the sequel goes." Wirkola said he's working on another DEAD SNOW sequel, “We have some ideas. We want to make a trilogy some time...As you know, he [protagonist Martin] has a woman now, so we can deal with that. Maybe he has half-zombie kids. We haven’t seen half-zombies. We talked about opening the next film showing a zombie birth and it being the worst birth ever. These are just ideas for now, but I feel one more could happen if this one (DEAD SNOW: DEAD VS. RED) does well.” AMERICAN HORROR STORY---FX renewed the series for Season 5. INCORPORATED---Syfy series underway set in the future in which a man rebels against a society where corporations have absolute power. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are co-producers. MANHATTAN---WGN renewed the series about the top secret Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb for Season 2. Season 1 premiers on October 19. PAINKILLER JANE---sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska are hoping their movie based on the comic will be R-rated. Jen said, "I'm not working for Marvel. It has to be an R-rated character. When you come to a character like Jane, she drinks, she fights, she f*cks, she talks like you and I talk, and that's an important part of her character...Kids are reading this kind of content. I mean, when I was a kid I was reading 'The Punisher.' So Jane has to be true to the character and it's got to be an R. We can't tone it down or we'd tone Jane out of the entire script." Sylvia added their Jane is a, "bi-sexual, badass, dirty language, doesn't give a f*ck cop". CARE BEARS AND COUSINS---Netflix reboot series underway for 2016. MONSTER-IN-LAW---semi-sequel tv series underway based on the 2005 comedy movie that starred Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez. TIMELESS---20th Century Fox live-action/CGI movie underway based on the children's books. Carlos Saldanha (ICE AGE) is the director. CAPTAIN AMERICA 3---Robert Downey, Jr. will co-star in the sequel which will use the comic book's Civil War storyline. Downey will be paid $40 million plus incentives. A source claims the sequel has Tony Stark feuding with Captain America over the Superhero Registration Act which requires superheroes to register with the government and assist in law enforcement. Captain America objects to registration on civil liberty grounds and is forced to flee with other superheroes. Captain America will lead a new team of Avengers including Falcon, War Machine, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow and possibly The Vision. The source said at the end of the sequel "the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be in a tough, dark place, with the heroes scattered and defeated" with Captain America not appearing in the next AVENGERS movie. The sequel also has Tony Stark retiring as Iron Man because he feels responsible for Ultron's actions. There are two candidate titles for the sequel: CAPTAIN AMERICA: FALLEN SON (the top choice) and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Premiere is May 6, 2016. Also, directors Joe and Anthony Russo will lead the Marvel Cinema Universe after Joss Whedon leaves. They are in negotiations to direct THE AVENGERS 3 and 4.
