So far I only have Maleficent (Howard) and Godzilla (Desplat). Both of which were kind of disappointing.

How to Train Your Dragon 2, Godzilla, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Pretty sure those are the only ones.

The two that I've really loved are THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL and THE BOXTROLLS. Not much else has been that interesting to me.

Acquired so far:

The Lego Movie (blocks of fun)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (brrrrrific)
The Railway Man (chugga chugga)
Godzilla (fireballs to the wall)
Maleficent (hornalicious)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (too many scales)

Dawn of the Planet of the Boxtrolls is on my wish list...

None ... but then I haven't seen any 2014 release films (of which I'm aware).

I'm generally working at least 2 or 3 years behind with Skyfall being the only concurrent purchase in the last five years. I have a few releases from this period but these are blind buys and would have been at least 12 months after release.

I suppose that's one of the downsides of not going to the cinema anymore ... or wanting to buy new DVD/BD releases. How that differs from my youth when I'd rush to get the OST after seeing a film ... frown

Perhaps I should re-visit this thread and update my post .. in 2016/7 smile

Mr. Peabody and Sherman (Elfman)
Muppets Most Wanted (Beck)
Captain America: The Winter Solider (Jackman) - digital
X-Men Days of Future Past (Ottman)
Guardians of the Galaxy (Bates)

By year's end I will definitely be picking up:

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Giacchino)
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 1 (Newton Howard)
The Hobbit: BotFA (Shore) - both versions

This is about on-par with what I get in a typical year. Most of my score budget goes towards the more expensive catelog releases from our labels. I don't see many movies in theaters, so I'm sure I'll pick up more 2014 scores in the future when I come across ones I like on Netflix.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Captain America: Winter Soldier.

HTTYD2 was an instant winner. It’s a score I play so much I have to take breaks from it.

CA2 had to grow on me. If I get rid of The Winter Soldier it gets a lot more listenable. Maybe Fury. But The Smithsonian and Taking a Stand get played a lot.

Oh, Lego Movie was this year, wasn’t it?

Hundreds. Mostly promos, however.

Lots of good stuff this year, especially if you look outside the mainstream American productions (but also some good ones within).

I've bought:

Alexandre Desplat - The Monuments Men
Alexandre Desplat - The Grand Budapest Hotel
Alexandre Desplat - Godzilla
John Powell - How To Train Your Dragon 2
James Newton Howard - Maleficent
Michael Giacchin - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Mark Mancina - Planes: Fire and Rescue
Howard Shore - Hobbit 3 Battle of the Five Armies (pre-order)

And would buy Alan Silvestri's Cosmos (all 4 volumes) if it were available on physical disc.

2014 has been a great year for film scores!

Grand Budapest Hotel and Snowpiercer so far.

But among my habits in 2014 is listening to albums on Spotify, which means that I haven't bought some albums that I would have bought in recent years. These include (top of head):

X-Men Days of Future Past
Desplat's Godzilla
A Walk Among the Tombstones
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Guardians of the Galaxy

I see that THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL is very popular 2014 title here. I bought this as well, I also saw the movie twice in cinema. Brilliant!

I've only got five so far...

A Million Ways to Die in the West (Expanded iTunes version)
The Monuments Men
Maleficient
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Godzilla

But in TV scores, I think the 4-album iTunes release of Alan Silvestri's "Cosmos" beats all of the above.

SECRET SHARER
TEST
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Still waiting for someone to finally release:
Monkey King
Third Person
The Homesman
1864
The Drop
Astérix: Le domaine des dieux

None for me either. I'm pretty sure the most recent I've bought is Williams' 'The Book Thief'.

I will buy 'The Hobbit' when it gets released.
