I've been looking into doing surveys to earn a little extra money and find a LOT pay in gift cards, usually Amazon, sometimes Visa.
Now I can't pay buy groceries at Amazon (and don't want to, actually), but I might accept a Visa gift card if I can use it anywhere they accept a Visa. That's the deal, right?
(And any survey/focus group/whatever that pays off in an Amazon gift card is a douche-list candidate, in my estimation.)

Yes, you can use the Visa gift cards anywhere Visa is accepted. You want to be careful as to the amount being charged though, because if it exceeds the value of the gift card the charge will be rejected. Fortunately, most places that accept Visa will allow multiple forms of payment for a single transaction. If the cost exceeds the value of the card, you can apply the value of the gift card to the purchase and pay the remainder with another form of payment, e.g., cash.
