It just came to my attention that back in 2012 Real Gone Music released a CD of songs from the 1964 Frankie Avalon film MUSCLE BEACH PARTY. The CD is a compilation of several Avalon recordings from United Artists, most prominently the LP “Muscle Beach Party and Other Motion Picture Songs.” The CD also contains songs from Avalon’s 1965 film I’LL TAKE SWEDEN, as well as some miscellaneous Avalon singles. All of this material is appearing for the first time on CD. As far as MUSCLE BEACH PARTY goes, on this recording Avalon sings some songs that were sung by other artists in the film itself, and sings solo on a song that was sung with Annette Funicello in the film. (Annette was signed to a Disney label at the time.)

One potential anomaly on the CD: Although Real Gone Music describes the CD as having “All Tracks In Stereo,” the UA record numbers that they cite as the sources of the original recordings are the mono versions.
