MONDAY, OCTOBER 27

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES---Peter Jackson said the movie's final epic battle at the foot of Lonely Mountain for the dwarven treasure of Erebor lasts 45 minutes, "We have a rule that we’re not allowed to go more than two or three shots of anonymous people fighting without cutting back to our principal characters. Otherwise the audience just ends up with battle fatigue."

JOHN CARTER---FORBES magazine said the movie's actual cost was $306.6 million, not $250 million as originally claimed. Its worldwide gross was $284 million.

THE WALKING DEAD---the spin-off series pilot, rumored to be a prequel, will be directed by Oscar-winner Adam Davidson (DEADWOOD, DEXTER, LOST).

STAR WARS---Ewan McGregor commented on fan disapproval of STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE, "I watched it once, at the premiere, so I'm not in a good position to judge. They had a tall order, the three films I did. The fans waited so long and wanted to feel like they did when they watched the first film, but they were grown-ups by that time. I don't mind the criticism. I've heard it to my face."
He added about meeting die-hard Star Wars fans versus profiteering fans, "I don't have any experience with them. I've never been to one of the conventions. The people I meet are the f--kers who want me to sign Star Wars photos so they can sell them on the Internet or the people at premieres who are crushing children against barriers to get me to sign their f--king picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi. They're not fans - they're parasitical lowlifes and f--king wankers."

SUICIDE SQUAD---Jesse Eisenberg is in negotiations to return as Lex Luthor in this DC Comics movie directed by David Ayer (FURY).

MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER---Lyndsy Fonseca (NIKITA) will co-star in the series as Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress and Peggy Carter's friend.

KRYPTON---new tv series reportedly from DC Entertainment with writer David Goyer (THE DARK KNIGHT) attached. Speculation is the series might be a prequel series about the House of El or Brainiac.

WAR PIGS---Luke Goss, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren star in this World War II movie in which a dishonored Army captain and a French Foreign Legionnaire lead a squad of misfits on a deadly mission behind German lines.

CHILDHOOD'S END---Charles Dance (GAME OF THRONES) will co-star in the Syfy miniseries as the Overlords' ambassador in which a benevolent alien invasion of Earth promises a utopian society.

THE TUNNELS--Paul Greengrass (THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM) will direct this movie based on the true story of people escaping from East Berlin through tunnels with the help of a US news organization.

THE BFG---Mark Rylance will star as the title character in Steven Spielberg's movie based on the children's book by Roald Dahl.

STATIC SHOCK---Warner Bros. digital series underway based on the DC Comics superhero with Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith, being sought for the starring role.

WHO AM I---Warner Bros US remake of the German movie in which computer hackers are being killed off by the Russian mob. Tom Schilling stars.

WORLD BREAKERS---movie underway in which a Scottish warlord and his sons defend a castle under siege by an invading army.

I'm not gay, but McGregor's comments made me fall in love with him. I couldn't help but laugh at his excessive use of the F-word. He equals me!

Keep up the good work, Obi-Wan!

MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER---Lyndsy Fonseca (NIKITA) will co-star in the series as Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress and Peggy Carter's friend.

Excellent news...loved Fonseca on Nikita, and will be thrilled to have her and Hayley Atwell in the same series. [drool]

Ouch. Tell us how you really feel Ewan...

Ewan has always had this sort of attitude. He's a good actor, and wants to be known for that. But he's also the kinda guy you'd watch a ball game and have some beers with.

Always happy he's thumbed his nose at rabid fans. I'd love to meet him, myself but certainly wouldn't be trampling children to get to him!

Must admit I don't understand rabid autograph seekers, especially the ones who just get them so they can sell them (probably to ACTUAL fans). Wanting autographs of people you're actually interested in is one thing, but...

I don't know about everyone else here, but 45 minutes seems a bit much for the battle scene. I mean, yes, it was inevitable that Jackson was going to expand the Battle of the Five Armies from the book, but 20 minutes tops would have been more than enough in my opinion.
