Maybe not a big deal to some but I was surprised to find the score there. It seems a straightforward release of the original LP program, including the Maureen McGovern song. The tracks are not available individually, unfortunately.
Loved the album way back when. Half the LP of course is taken up by the song and the easy listening / pop arrangements so aside from "The Helicopter Explosion" the score tracks are very well represented on the old Varese album conducted by Joel McNeely.
Might have to spring for this one though, thanks for the heads up!
But I can't find it on iTunes US. Anybody got an iTunes link?
I don't know how to grab the link but it's there. Search Towering Inferno and it should be about three rows down the album listings. At least that's where it is when I search it.
Bullitt (I believe the album version from 68) is also new on iTunes today. Perhaps a series of vintage Warner soundtracks is getting fresh digital releases. Anyone know?

Yes, I did check for The Outlaw Josie Wales Warner album, but no joy.

The albums I searched for were The Arrangement, Night Shift, Harlow and Josey Wales, but came up empty. Maybe someday.
I don't know if I'm hearing things or not, but I just listened to the samples of the lossless version and it sounds really really terrific-- better than I think any of these cues have ever sounded. Have the album tracks always sounded this good and I'm just used to the FSM release?
I bought it. While some sections do sound better than the FSM release (main title seems like a completely different mix), overall the quality isn't anywhere near great. I'd be disappointed if it came out on CD from a specialty label in 2014 under a "remastered" banner sounding like this.
Kind of tied to this, Varese Sarabande's limited edition version of MIDWAY (by John Williams) is also available in iTunes. Looks like they're down to 50 copies of the score CD - so nice to have this available when they finally sell out.
