Wow that is quite the lineup. So next year is fairly quiet, 2016 is light, then 2017 stomps all over us.

I'm pleased to see Doctor Strange and Black Panther is there, though sad that there doesn't appear (yet again) that there is a female centric movie in there unless like the comics Thor is going to have a sex change.

-- edit -- I of course forgot that Captain Marvel was a woman. Duh and Yay a female lead!! About time, though _kinda_ sad that Black Widow or Pepper Pots didn't get a shot smile

-- edit 2 -- some more photos over at io9

Next year only seems fairly quiet because they are not including the already announced 2015 releases to the list: Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man smile

Actually, if I recall my comic booknessness, there was both a male and a female Captain Marvel. A bit of precursor to the Nova character (whom I always liked - power levels somewhere in line with Captain America despite flying, energy blasts out the hands, etc.; kind of a Silver Surfer on a budget). Made him tackle some important but not earth-shattering stuff.

Btw, with the amount of money they`re making from these films, I`m sure they`d be open to additional film adaptations of so far unheralded characters.

I`d just like to serve as a Logic CheckerĀ®/Political Officer (armed!) for moments of slight bullshit... here`s looking at you Iron Man series...

Not to mention the TV series launching or continuing next year. Agent Carter will debut in January, during the midseason break in the (current) second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Daredevil will have thirteen episodes on Netflix in May.

Yawn.

Ditto. If I was invested in the characters I would care. Just another string of mass destruction, shallow characters, and nonsensical plot devices. Be prepared for another two hour commercial for Marvel toys and Apple products.

I have always found irritating that the real Captain Marvel, who is currently owned by DC had to have his book titled Shazam. The real Captain Marvel was created by CC Beck for Fawcett Comics. Ironic when you consider that DC sued Fawcett claiming Captain Marvel infringed on Superman's copyright.

This, too, is the "real" Captain Marvel, as there's more than one. The "Shazam!" one is the original, of course, which is certainly important, but Marvel's current Captain Marvel (there have been several characters with that name / mantle, as well as several Ms. Marvels, one of whom is now the current Captain Marvel) is an important character in her own right, with significance going beyond just being another Marvel movie character anchoring yet another Marvel movie.

But getting back to the DC / Fawcett Captain Marvel, it is indeed ironic that DC wound up owning the character (though hardly unheard of; note how Disney even sued Marvel back in the day over Howard the Duck, whom it alleged infringed on Donald Duck, and now Disney owns Marvel outright and allowed Howard back on screen in Guardians of the Galaxy, 28 years to the day after the release of his previous movie appearance back in 1986). But it's also likely DC's ownership of the character has done more to keep the character "alive" than would ever otherwise be the case, preventing him from fading into obscurity and historical footnotes.

It's funny to me you think so. The ability to invest in and connect with these characters is one reason why I'm able to enjoy these movies so much, when I can't bring myself to get into the current competing offerings from Warner / DC, to say nothing of other big-budget spectacle like the soulless Transformers movies and other such trash. But to each his/her own, of course...

For what its worth Marvel does it better than the other tent poles. I enjoyed Avengers when I saw it. Yet I have had no interest in revisiting the film, which makes me believe it really didn't resonate with me as much as I thought. I really loved X-Men 1&2 and liked Iron Man 1 a lot. Maybe I am just tired of Super Hero's.
