Never heard of the composer. Samples are rather generic, if enthusiastic in breadth - At least in the "Prologue" and "The Big Jump" cues, both of which I played twice and rather enjoyed. Everything in between felt very Tyler Bates-ish. Has this composer done anything worth hunting down previously?

Yes, the score for the recent Mesrine movies, co-composed with Marco Beltrami.

Eh, those clips sound pretty generic to my ears.

Maybe, but it is very good generic music IMHO ;-)
Please, check this track too, "The Interview":

By the way, the CD release of Northmen seems cancelled, I can't find any trace of it.

You're right. Sorry for that.
I tried a few hours ago and got no result on the french Amazon in the CD/vinyl section and of course, now you pointed out that I was wrong, it pops up :-)

For the last eight or nine years Marcus Trumpp has made significant contributions to many Beltrami scores: the last two "Die Hard" films, Red Eye, The Invisible, World War Z, Soul Surfer, The Wolverine, The Seventh Son, The Drop, The Woman in Black, Carrie and November Man all containing stirring, complex orchestral cues by Marcus.
