Thank you very much Intrada and Lukas for still caring about niche interest soundtracks (read: FUNERAL IN BERLIN)! smile

It seems this one is more about niche interest movies, isn't it? Or at least, I'm a fan of German film composers, but never really heard about Konrad Elfers except for that film. Not that I mind, I like some variety (although I already have the RCA CD).

Well, I like both the movie and the score (actually both most of the Harry Palmer series). As far as I know, it's Elfers' only international movie score, and my only other knowledge of him is that he scored Pippi Longstocking movies here in Germany.

is FUNERAL ost, or re-recording done for LP back in the day?

OST except for track 1 version of the theme.

I'm curious to know what folks who've received it are making of MANDINGO! Speaking for myself, by the time I get a physical copy of a CD I've worked on, I've spent so much time with it already that I sometimes feel like I need a break. But for whatever reason, this one hasn't exhausted me yet!

Naturally, I love it to death, but that's like saying our own Henry here loves Conti ;-)

I'm elated someone finally got 'Dingo on cd - it's a nice,
well rounded listen, a great mix of lyrical, atonal & MJ'S beloved percussive writing - would have been a fantastic LP back in the day. Plaza is a most excellent cherry on top. I literally sighed relief when I heard how clean the sound was compared to the inferior source on the Universal France box set.

Keep the Jarre coming boys, and here's to hoping some of his later, more romantic & tonal scores like Chances Are, Mr. Jones, even Young Doctors In Love (despite the goofy annoying mobster music) gets to cd before I croak ;-)

I picked up Mandingo/Plaza Suite during Intrada's Spring sale, and by coincidence just listened to it this weekend. Always loved Plaza Suite, so glad to have it, but was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed Mandingo. If you love Jarre and those infectious themes that stay suite even with various repeats, this is a good one to add.
