What an amazingly talented man! Of all the iconic films he directed, one of the titles that is never mentioned is What Planet Are You From?, and I happen to love that one very much…along with all the "famous" ones. He shall be missed.

Sad news. I have seen three of his films, Biloxi Blues, Regarding Henry and Wolf. Zimmer's score to Regarding Henry is a highlight in his career, that I listened to a lot in the 90s. I'm surprised they never worked together again. Did Nichols ever comment on the score? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWeZDety2hI I'm also interested in facts about his repeated collaborations with Carly Simon.

The Graduate was good, but locked into its time. What keeps it green, for me, is the implication of the last shot of Hoffmann and Ross in the bus as their expressions change. A sobering and smart moment from Nichols there. Couldn't agree more with this, Heath. Saw it as a young teenager and it made a big impression on me. Alex

Wolf is definitely my favorite movie of his, his collaboration with Morricone delivered my favorite score of the maestro as well. And Pfeiffer, Nicholson, Plummer, Spader, ... are all excellent in it (even Niles). I've been looking over his filmography and I need to catch up on a lot of movies. I saw The Graduate a long time ago and enjoyed it, another soundtrack highlight. I've also seen Birdcage, Regarding Henry, Working Girl, ... but I confess I wasn't always aware he directed those and some of his older movies I might have seen on tv over the years. R.I.P.
