Caldera Records is proud to present the original score for the television movie Pollyanna from 2003, based on the well-known series of children's books and with a score by Christopher Gunning who presents one of his loveliest scores here. Written for chamber orchestra and recorded in London, Pollyanna features several strong themes which make the score instantly recognizable and easy to hum with the main theme portraying the childlike innocence of its title character Pollyanna. The young girl moves in with her aunt Polly, played by Amanda Burton, whose cold heart gets softened by her niece. Gunning became well-known in film music circles with his famous theme for Agatha Christie's Poirot, composed When the Whales Came, Cold Lazarus, Grace of Monaco and of course La vie en rose which earned him one of four BAFTA awards. As a bonus, we included an insightful audio-commentary by Christopher Gunning who talks about his career and the concept of this specific score. The sixth CD-release of Caldera Records features a detailed booklet-text by Gergely Hubai and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. The CD was produced by Stephan Eicke and John Elborg.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by this release. I never heard of Caldera. I hope they will release more Gunning gems. He is such a wonderful composer. Pollyanna is a very nice score, a must buy for me.
Yeah, I'm also still waiting for this one from SAE plus a couple of other titles (including The Day The Earth Stood Still from Kritzerland!!!!). I hope they send a new shipment soon.
Wow! Just interesting - is it the first time in SAE history?
Here's a message from Caldera:
I'd like to update you that our parcel to America containing the Pollyanna package has disappeared from the radar. We're tracking the shipment and trying to find out what could have happened. It's a bit of a mystery because a similar package (with different CDs) was sent on the same day and already arrived a long time ago.
We're terribly sorry about this delay, but neither Caldera Records, nor Screen Archives is liable for this. We're still looking into the matter - there are still copies of the CD, so you didn't miss anything. If you want to order from Screen Archives, you'll have to wait a bit more - my only other suggestion is to buy from another vendor in the meantime.
Again, terribly sorry. I'll keep an eye out on the developments and let you know when we have something definite.
Great score, CD release features 26 minutes of a 45 minute score and - as a bonus - a very informative commentary by Christopher Gunning about his career for film and TV music and the scoring of Pollyanna.
Now if a label could reissue Firelight, Rosemary & Thyme and consider releasing Under Suspicion, that would be marvellous
Ah, finally! I'm still waiting for this and in the same order for instance Day the Earth Stood Still. At last they will be on their way soon (I hope)...
Received mine today. Well worth the wait. A beautiful score and a wonderful CD. The commentary track by the composer (25 minutes) is very interesting and well presented. This is my first experience of a CD from Caldera Records and I have to say it is outstanding, with ideal sound quality and fine presentation. Highest recommendation.
