Good grief, is there any other score where you have to own 3 or 4 official albums and various others to get the entire score?
TRON: Legacy actually probably has Blade Runner beat in that regard.
Ummm yes...you're right on that one.
But also lemme toss out there that if you want an essential Blade Runner collection, you have to include the New American Orchestra album. The Memories Of Green cover there is gorgeous. Studio musicians , yeah, more lush orchestral than Vangelis faithful electronics, yep, but it is a fine take on the music.
For the sake of full disclosure, it should be mentioned that MikeP works for BSX.
The one thing that always drove me nuts about ALL the official releases (orchestra version, original CD, 25th 3CD, BSX) is that NONE of them contain "Morning at the Bradbury" which rivals "Memories of Green" as one of the most beautiful pieces written for the film. I just don't get it!

Ummm, nope
I live in North Carolina and am in retail management.
I'm just kinda fond of that BSX album
But now all this discussion about the score is making me put together my own "Essential Blade Runner" set. Maybe just one disc worth. Maybe two. The older I get the less patience it seems for multi-disc sets from any film. 2, 3 CD's... at times way way too much music

That was my lame attempt at humor and I totally forgot to put the smiley afterwards. Doh!
Didn't Vangelis also put some otherwise unreleased Blade Runner tracks on his compilations?
You are correct, you can find an extended intro to the Blade Runner main titles on the 2012 compilation cd "the collection". Unfortunate after 2 minutes you hear the wellknown harrison Ford voice over part mixed in again. After that the track is the same as we know from other compilations.
