I would buy a copy that has more normal sound. Was sad when this came out and it was a bit loud.

That's not what you said in 2015!!! razz

"Glad you are in love with this release like me and so many others. Still can't believe we finally have it and with incredible sound!"

Agreed it's a pity it was brickwalled, but it's still a fabulous score.

Maybe this will get re-done one day without the brickwalling. Until then, I love this too much.

Cheers

Was there a discussion about the sound of this release? I haven't heard the LP or previous CD versions but I find it perfectly listenable.

Roger Fiegelson mentioned it somewhere here on FSM.

Here's the quote, from the Intrada's forum: http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7129&start=15

"(...). Brickwalling is a combination of normalizing (making the softest and loudest parts the same level) and then raising the overall level up to the max. That's what made PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED unbearable."

In layman's terms, it sounds as if every single instrument is playing at the exact same level, thereby destroying any subtlety or nuance previously inherent in the music.
