I have the old DRG cd of SUMMER OF '42/PICASSO SUMMER and the Varese cd of OUR MAN FLINT/IN LIKE FLINT.

I'm thinking of getting both of Intrada's new versions. Is it worth the extra cost and why?

Flint is apples and oranges. Intrada is not from the movie but from the Los. Gorgeous sound, somewhat different, and holy grail.

Picasso/sumner is an expansion of both. Well worthed.

Well as has been said here many times...the Flints are different recordings. The Varese you have is the original score as heard in the movies (but nothing like all of it), & the Intrada is the re-recordings done at the time & issued on LP. I love the LP recordings & have done since I bought the LP's back in the sixties. The Intrada Our Man Flint/In Like Flint is my release of the year, but if you're only used to the original scores, you may want to listen to the samples first.

GUYS:

Thanks for the info.
Is the audio quality for the two Intradas a lot better than the DRG and Varese versions?

The mix on the Varese Flint is very weak. The intrada blows it away. That said, if you love this music as much as i, there are reasons to have both. But if you want only one, intrada wins.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not thrilled with the audio quality of the Varese FLINT cd, so the Intrada looks likely---although I wish it had the opening intro to "Where the Bad Guys are Girls".

FYI, the VARESE is the soundtrack recording for the film.....

The INTRADA CD features the soundtrack album masters that were done for LIP release.

They are two VERY DIFFERENT recordings.

so bitching about the audio quality of the VARESE one is a bit like comparing apples and oranges...

They are just DIFFERENT!
