Twilight Time have announced a limited edition release of BREAKING AWAY on Blu-ray, which will include Patrick Williams' adaptation and score in isolated form on a separate audio track. I'm thrilled with this news...one of my very favorite films and I've always loved its use of music.

Good news, since there hasn't been any previous release of the film's music. Patrick Williams received an Academy Award nomination for "Best Music--Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score." Herbert Spencer also did orchestrations for the score, and the music was conducted by Lionel Newman.

What a beautiful piece of scoring when our cutter friend reveals the truth to the coed. Heartbreaking, crushing, indelible cinematic moment.

Indeed! Love that piece...I'm thinking that's a Pat Williams original? And, yes, a beautifully performed moment by Dennis Christopher and Robyn Douglass.

This is one of those films that a person enjoys watching many times. It is delightful. I do need to tune in more carefully to the score next time I watch it.

Saw this charming film several times, partly to evoke memories of my years in Bloomington. I'm afraid the only music to make an impression was the Mendelssohn Fourth -- the "Italian" (of course!) Symphony.

Only 36 years late, but... better late than never !

A brilliant, charming and thoroughly entertaining movie with a perfect cast.

{Why didn’t Dennis Christopher have a bigger career ??}

Oscar nominated for Best Picture, it lost out to “Kramer v. Kramer”.

I’ll be having this one.

Thank-You Twilight Time x
