As with pervious years, this may be premature.

A comprehensive list, but a lousy presentation. What must have been the operating premise for this film? "For our last look at these artists and their work, let's spend half of our allotted time on shots of architecture, landscapes, and other people. Let's keep most of the artists' photos small, tucked into a picture frame, and shown at an oblique angle. And then let's obscure the artists' photos and the clips from their work under various filters and overlays. I can't think of any better way to respect them and pay them homage."

Well said!!! They rush though some of the people who deserve more respect.

I didn't realize James Rebhorn had died when they announced his character's death on HOMELAND. Fine actor.

Film seems to be more about that creepy house and grounds, with those faceless zombies stalking around, than it is about remembering creative people. (Many of whom I didn't recognize, in fact.)

Also, some of the people's images flitted by so fast, I hardly had time to take them in, whereas there was more footage of that house and grounds, withering away.

This looked like a demo version for what they will eventually show.

Absolutely! I can only add more criticisms of a droning, irritating, thankfully forgettable song having nothing to do with film (like all of the other distractions mentioned) and the fact that they still left out many craftspeople lost to us this year.

That thing was so badly done, maybe they meant the zombies to represent those artists lost to us as well.

I find those "In Memoriam" retrospectives to be quite sobering to watch because as I see the many actors passing that I have grown up with, I am keenly made aware of my own mortality.

Not to get morbid here, but yeah, Ive been thinking of all the famous stars that have past on in my life since I was a child. I now realize many of today's stars will far out live me.

Compare this video tribute to deceased musicans: http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/obituary/1189/2014-Goodbyes

Fewer production values but much better music!

Watching actors, favorite composers, directors and so on pass away is one of the big down sides to being a film buff. How many times these days I watch something and suddenly realize everyone I'm looking at is dead -- and I saw this movie or TV show when it was new! -- can be very depressing.

Why don't they wait until the end of the year to present these? It's like Life magazine's year in review issues, when they came out with the issues from '74-76, and presented a comprehensive list of those notables and even some not so notable who died in their perspective year, as the issue always came out in January.

I wonder if they'll add Luise Rainer, who just passed. This seems to happen the last few days of each year. I think it was Peter O'Toole last year.

And add Edward Herrmann to the list, who just died earlier this morning.

just saw the Bbc memoriam for 2014 and there were some id forgotten we had lost this year.
harold Ramis for one.

typical Bbc they gave a substantial chunk to political figures, some i hadnt even heard of - but they did show some rare footage of Peter Seeger singing at a civil rights rally and a clip of his original band the Weavers, and also had footage of joe cocker singing live his With a little help from my friends and how he performed it at Woodstock - somebody on here talked about how he was one of the few people to reimagine a Beatles song and improved it, and that is so true. Quite remarkable is that it was a Beatles song that he made his own. so few artists have done that.

I have to agree with you all. I'd rather have MORE shots of the actually people than the grounds and the legs of those people walking around. Granted we all know they can't fit EVERYONE into those In Memory sections so why in the world would you waste any time on shots that are not devoted to actual people who have passed to get as MANY into the video as possible.
