Craig Armstrong fans should be aware, he has just released his first original album in twelve years.

It's not exactly a film score, but like his last one, "As If To Nothing", it's basically a score to a film unmade, like John Barry's "Beyondness Of Things" and "Eternal Echoes".

I'm listening to it now and it's stunning. A couple of the tracks are songs, all of them with his trademark lush orchestral backing, but most are huge orchestral/instrumental pieces, sounding just like his scores but liberated from having to reflect any one narrative. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them show up in films or commercials soon.

I only found out about it by accident, as I was searching at Amazon.co.uk for something else.

Right now it hasn't been released in the US, and American Amazon is charging a fortune for the import, so it's cheaper to order from the UK and have it shipped here.

Anyone who enjoyed his GREAT GATSBY or LOVE ACTUALLY scores will love this album.

I'm so glad I found this album, and I hope this info helps any other fans out there. I wish he got more work composing scores, and am excited to see he's doing next year's FRANKENSTEIN.

These are my favorite tracks on the album. The first is a song with orchestral backing very much in the style of his GATSBY and MOULIN ROUGE scores:

And this is another stunning song, with a really moving music video for it:

Don't worry, about two thirds of the pieces on the album are orchestral/instrumental, these two songs just happen to be my favorites.

Hmm I thought there was a thread already talking about this, I actually think I found out about this album there. Either way I love Armstrongs work, been listening to this for a month. Nice to see other people enjoying his work as well, I would really like to see a new score by him. I loved Gatsby and I'm sure his Victor Frankentstein and Far From The Maddening Crowd scores next year will be great.

I used the search function and didn't find any other threads, but it has been really unreliable for the last year or so.

I didn't know he was also doing Far From The Maddening Crowd too, very cool!
