Joseph Sargent ( July 22, 1925 - December 22, 2014) has died at age 89. An extremely talented director of popular TV shows in the 1960's such as 'Gunsmoke', 'The Fugitive', 'Star Trek' and 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.', he really came in to his own in the '70's with the excellent feature films 'Colossus the Forbin Project', 'The Man' and especially 'The Taking of Pelham One Two Three'. Later in his career, Sargent directed many TV movies, one of the more distinguished being 1990's 'The Incident'.

ah, the man from Uncle movies man! liked his work, espec Pelham and White Lightning and as you say, Forbin. Quite shocked to see he didnt get more major movies after a Cv with those 3 on, he undoubtedly would have done a decent job of other projects. As arthur says, seems like he got a hell of a lot of T.v films and smaller budget dramas in later years. I was always a fan of Buck and the preacher, anyone know why he left the project? Whitelaw, Cocker and Sargeant in 3 days. Is this what happens when you get older - somebody whose work you admire passes away every day?!
