This score has always been one of my favorite Goldsmith score of all times. It`s from his most creative period (second half of the 70s) and it is so memorable. Great themes, wonderful combination of oriental and americana music, fantastic complex counterpoint writing. The performance of Munich`s Graunke orchestra is stunning and the recording is super crisp and detailed.

But until yesterday I`d never seen the film itself. Yesterday it was shown on german tv. And I have to say that the musoc works perfectly in the picture. It fits the film like a glove.

And the film itself is very good as well. A very exciting and colorful action-adventure movie with several first rate performances. I especially liked Brian Keith`s portrayal of Teddy Roosevelt, Candice Bergen as the fictional Eden Perdicaris and Geoffrey Lewis as a rather slimy diplomat.

Based loosely on a real story, it not only pictures the international disputes of the colonial powers in the arab world just a couple of years before the outbreak of WW1, it also tells a lot about the differences between the arab-islamic and the western world. And considering the islamisn of Al-Quaida and IS, I thought that Connery`s portrayal of Raisuli and his actions had actually quite current and topical references.

Cool! I too had my first viewing of The Wind and the Lion yesterday as well.

Love the score. Connery's performance was hard to take seriously. Couldn't help but laugh at a lot of it after haven just watched Outland. But it was beautifully shot. They dont make films like they used too. Nor compose scores for that matter.

And Candice Bergen was hooooooootttttttt! Smoking!
