Sometimes a Death Star is just a Death Star (or its many sequels and prequels).

Still made me laugh, though. Thanks, Boggan, for appealing to my "gutter side."

Yeah I can deal with her. Looks pretty normal for cosplay. No fake boobs, tattoos or piercings either. I'll take her home and show her my lightsaber.

Considering that threads dealing with women never do well at the Olde FSM Boarde for various reasons, this one has prospered quite nicely.

I'm a mainstream comic book guy, so the likes of Ghost World wouldn't have crossed my radar screen. However, as a big fan of director Terry Zwigoff's CRUMB documentary, I should probably enjoy his film of said comic. It's girls, they like comic books, and that girl who isn't ScarJo sure appeals to my sinful nature, and not that you asked, I've always nursed a crush on Illeanna Douglas.

Any fans of this movie? Your thoughts, please...

"Set during the malaise-filled months following high-school graduation..."

Ain't that the truth; I'm still waiting for my malaise to subside.

It has been a while since I saw the film, but I enjoyed Ghost World. It has a nice mix of comedy, quirkiness, and sadness. Thora Birch, Scarlett Johannson, and Steve Buscemi all do great jobs. The book it is based on is also worth reading. The film is, at best, a loose adaptation of the source material, but I think they both work.

I wonder if Ghost World's proverbial ship has sailed for me, in terms of it probably being something I would have appreciated when I was much younger. I'm still interested in seeing it and the fact that it's a Criterion appeals to me, as well.

The dvd is out May 30.

Oh, that Thora Birch...

Has anyone else here watched the YouTube videos of one Grace Randolph?
