I find it strange that Varese does not release their in-perp Club titles on iTunes, especially once they are OOP. For example, The Abyss Deluxe, Volcano Deluxe, Starship Troopers Deluxe, Matrix Deluxe, Die Hard 2 Deluxe, etc. So far the only ones on there are Gremlins 2: 25th, BTTF III Deluxe, The Right Stuff, Goonies 25th, Ballad of Cable Hogue.

Moppie.

Translation:

moppie (n.)
maid, maiden, girl, miss, missy, young lady, young woman, fille, female child, little girl, burd

What exactly are you saying DMD?

Oh I know! I'd LOVE to see THE ABYSS available for digital download since I missed out on it the first time around. I end up transferring all my physical discs to MP3 anyway.

Exactly. It seems like a no-brainer, everybody wins scenario. Label releases a limited pressing on physical media, after however long it sells out, label then releases DL for those that missed out / do not care about physical media / have cash constraints. For example, I already own the OST of The Abyss and did not intend to buy the DE, as I feel the OST has the major highlights I want, however I would pick up the DL at a fraction of the cost and for completeness' sake.

You guys know that just because they have the titles in-perp doesn't mean that they don't have to get permission from all the various parties involved and pay all the re-use fees and various other costs, right? I'm sure it's a massive and expensive headache for a very uncertain return on their investment. We're talking probably a few hundred people interested at most...

I'm sure there are. That's why I don't *expect* them to do it or that they *owe* it to us. I would just love to see it happen.

Just out curiosity, I'd be interested in reading what factors are considered when deciding which limited edition albums are made available. Such as: why GREMLINS 2 and BACK TO THE FUTURE PART III instead of THE ABYSS or PREDATOR 2--especially when the first two are still available on disc.

They have to do the same for the CD releases, so why not do both at once? And their regular catalogue titles all wind up on iTunes, so why should Club titles be an issue (for in-perp titles)?

Exactly. Both Gremlins 2 and BTTF III came out while the physical CDs were still in print. Surely it would make more sense to release as DL once they are OOP. Not a criticism, just wondering, before anyone gets up in arms.

I JUST heard about Varese not being distributed by Coloseum in the Europe anymore! Who distributes them now, Universal or something?

That's gonna be a bit of a problem for a lot of scores prior 2015 released by Coloseum that might go OOP and difficult to find.
