Thanks to everyone for their continuing patience and feedback. We are currently addressing the speed of the website and ironing out a number of other kinks over the next week. We are very excited about the initial positive feedback we have received, as many hours were spent designing a modern website that Varese Sarabande can be proud of. At the same time, we are hearing your suggestions and will continue to improve the site so that it not only looks great, but works well for customers on portable devices and PC’s. Consider this launch a phase 1!

There have been many questions about the accounts of long term customers and what information will be transferred over from the old site. As we are using an entirely new commerce platform and payment processor, we are unable to port over credit card details, past purchases or passwords. We are currently porting over basic purchaser information and rebuilding out the “My Account” feature. Once the My Account feature launches, you will be asked to create a new password. In the interim, you are welcome to pro-actively create a new account instead or check out as a guest. For folks with questions about their past purchases on the old site, drop an email to
orders @varesesarabande.com REMOVE THE SPACE after the "S" in ORDERS before sending email.

In addition to the new website, you may have noticed increased attention is being paid these days to our Facebook and Twitter profiles and we would love if you followed us there. We also launched our first email newsletter in December and are integrating signup this week into our website. Combined with news stories and the forum on the website, there are a bevy of ways to stay in tune with Varese and our forthcoming releases, and believe me, we are cooking up some truly amazing releases for 2015!

Thanks for your continued patronage and interest in Varese Sarabande. We don’t exist without our fans, and your enthusiasm for film music drives us to be the best label in the world.

smile

EDIT: Just talked with Varese and there was no history section on the old site nor were every release on the old site regardless if it was sold out. smile

Many of the sold out Club items were dropped at the last redesign just a few years ago. But prior to that, I believe that all of the Club titles were kept on the site.

Yes they did that, no one said above there was a history section or a complete listing of all CDs above. Ron and I requested such but we are the old farts that should be ignored if they want to be hip. I did mention "what history there was" which usually came from Robert when he was doing an historically important release or a concert that dealt with old releases.

But the new streamline website doesn't worry about such things and focusses on the future - whatever that is.

Being a record label and not just a store, it'd be nice if they had info on all their releases, no matter what the availability status. A lot of labels do it.

It would be nice but don't underestimate the work that goes into listing those titles. Most of the labels' websites only go back to the titles they had when they started their website and database. Intrada doesn't list its 80s/90s CDs. I have a feeling with the style of this makeover that Varese doesn't want to accentuate the past, but rather their current releases as well as upcoming projects.

Once again - for me it seems that in last 2 years Varese makes really huge step forward with Peter's enthusiasm & help )))

I agree with all of you about having as many titles or ALL of them on the site. Just takes a LOT of time to upload them, design an area on the site and put in the information. Fingers crossed in the future we can do that and/or add a brief little history about the company! Really appreciate the feedback and patience and kind words!

I did say 'it would be nice'. It'll grant not every label can be Naxos, Chandos or Hyperion (or have the resources of them) but....it would be nice. The sheer amount of time I've spent crawling through mounds of crap websites just to track down back covers or whatever else is needed for simple info such as who conducted things for stuff I've bought digitally is pretty damn ridiculous. The three labels I mentioned offer full liner notes for free on almost every single release (the later two actual scans or digital replicas), no matter how old or hard to get the actual CD is. That's to say nothing of track lists and all performer info right on the site itself.
I'll grant classical is different from film music but the point still stands. If companies are going to shove people in the direction of digital downloads then they should at the same time offer people the ability to know what they bought, yes?

Sorry to moan again - but I still cannot post anything on the site. I am logged in - this the site now recognizes. But every topic only offers a button which says that no posting is possible.

Which is the reason why I complain about it here.

I really would like to use the Varese Site... but it seems impossible. Why?

To Varese Sarabande:

Why are the following titles not listed in the Marco Beltrami section?

Live Free or Die Hard
The Watcher
Scream 3
Hellboy
Knowing
Joy Ride
The Minus Man

Surely not all of those titles are out of print. As a note also, you do not have WiB2 listed in the Marco Beltrami section.

---

Also, when you type in JNH's A Perfect Murder you get a search result for Debney's Dream House and when you type in Powell's I am Sam you get Samsara.

When you type in Jerry Goldsmith, you get a listing for Kamen's Suspect, Spartacus, Giacchino's Star Trek, Viva Zapata & The 13th Letter, Tyler's AVP: Requiem.

If you type in L.A. Confidential, you get Marcelo Zarvos' Too Big to Fail.

---

According to a Jerry Goldsmith search, the only titles you have available are:

The List of Adrian Messenger
Runaway
Star Trek: Nemesis
The Red Pony
Chinatown
A Gathering of Eagles
Freud
Total Recall

Surely of all the countless Goldsmith scores you've released over the years, these aren't the only ones available for purchase from your website?

neither is any of the old Scream releases, Mimic, etc... but I am sure those will be added eventually as importing all data and releases takes time...

But... perhaps they are just working on expanded versions of all of those and they will be added as soon as they are announced big grin

I didn't know that's how it worked. I thought all the (current/available) releases would be on the site upon launch.

I could not do the same before but now it seems that it works however it is (still) somewhat difficult.

No problem to log in now... but it is impossible (at least in my case) to post either new topic or reply to any of the "old" ones... since neither of the buttons does anything.

Apparently you have to answer a math question first???

Nope. To get to the question you would have to get to actually posting the message.
Does the "add reply"/"add topic" button do anything on your end?

I have so far only replied but the thing is I could only reply when I hit the "quote" button.
