La-La Land Records and Backlot Music present the CD soundtrack album for The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power, Universal Pictures’ action/adventure feature starring Victor Webster and Lou Ferrigno. The soundtrack features 20 new score cues by Emmy Award-winning composer Geoff Zanelli (“Mortdecai,” “Into the West” miniseries). The film is currently available on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
Zanelli has become a standout in the film and television scoring industry, garnering accolades and recognition for his work since going solo after numerous collaborations with Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
Zanelli had a fond experience working with director Mike Elliot, saying, “What gives this movie its identity and sets it apart is the way it uses humor to challenge the clichés and gender stereotypes that can keep a fantasy film from feeling fresh, or fun, or original.” With respect to the score, he goes on to say, “I tried to imbue the score with gravitas and play to the epic nature of the story. But whenever I’d start to get pretentious or too self-important, my director [Elliot] would say something like, ‘Geoff, please don’t forget that there are two grown women in tattered clothes having a cage fight in this movie.’ There’s a dragon, too.”
Produced by Geoff Zanelli and MV Gerhard and mastered by Patricia Sullivan at Bernie Grundman Mastering, with art design by Dan Goldwasser, this is a limited edition of 1500 Units.

The album features the original score and songs to the new feature film, MORTDECAI, starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor, and directed by David Koepp opening on Jan. 23, 2015.
Emmy-Award Winning composer Geoff Zanelli and Grammy-award winning producer-musician Mark Ronson join forces to compose the pitch perfect score and songs to this delightful new comedy in which Johnny Depp portrays debonair art dealer and part time rogue, Charlie Mortdecai, who must traverse the globe in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
Together, Zanelli and Ronson have created an amazing and rich musical experience for MORTDECAI – one that marries the charm and zest of 60’s pop with sharp, contemporary sensibilities.
“A few years ago, I heard Mark Ronson’s great Version album,” says MORTDECAI director David Koepp. “I was developing the script for MORTDECAI… and those tracks quite naturally found their way onto the playlist I’d made for writing and thinking times.”
