Some months ago we were given a warning that this would be happening. Would've been nice if they'd posted when it was less than 100 (or 50 or whatever) copies. I'm glad I've got mine even though I think the score's a bit overrated. They did say however that it would be reissued in MAF form at some point, without the second disc (ie. just the final score version on disc 1). Yavar

Here's the post from July of last year: Our 2-CD set for Back To The Future will soon be a part of history. One of our best selling "limited editions" ever, we are just three or four boxes away from hitting the 10,000 unit maximum allowable under the current American Federation of Musicians "historical rate" policy. If you've been sitting on the fence with this one (for reasons I couldn't fathom!) it would be a good idea to pounce now. What remains here in stock is all that's left... and that ain't much. Because Back To The Future remains one of the most important film scores of the last several decades, we have pursued a new agreement allowing us to bring a single disc release into the marketplace and keep the score available for future generations. This MAF edition will feature the score as presented on CD 1 of the current double-disc set, which is the score as heard in the picture. CD 2 with all of the bonus early recordings will simply go off into that place where, to paraphrase the Doc, "they don't need roads". Thank you all for supporting this magnificent score. --Doug

Thanks for the explanation! Much appreciated. I've only got into Silvestri in the last month, when I happened upon his 'Mummy Returns', which I at first mistook for Goldsmith's 'The Mummy.' It had good reviews, so I picked it up, and WHOA! it was fantastic - bold and memorable themes, and a true 'full orchestra' score... Silvestri wrote like a true master. I was stunned. Thus, I wasn't paying attention to whether it would be out of print soon or not. Well, too bad I missed out, but I'll be one of the first to line up for the MAF edition. And honestly, I rarely give repeat listenings to extras, I usually just like to listen to a complete score (although I make an exception for Goldsmith's Star Trek TMP, there's so much good extra stuff there). Thanks again!
