The so-called Oscar "race" is truly a nauseating pseudo 'event'.
SO, to make me feel better i have come up with a list of the WOrst Films of the Decade:

INSIDE LLEWLLEYN DAVIS
THE MASTER
TO THE WONDER
LES MISERABLES
X-MEN; FIRST CLASS
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS
UNDER THE SKIN
ADVENTURES OF TIN TIN

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I feel much better!
smile

Have a nice day!

I very much like Denzel Washington's allusional descriptive prose as to the perceived state of some particular thing that is being scrutinised: The Baloney Sandwich vs Caviar. The film giving rise to these allusions was Philadelphia, which, according to the councellor's take on things can only be lumped with all the caviar.

I would agree there's been an awful lot of baloney consumed since then.

Interesting, Mr Marshall. I very much enjoyed the last four of your listed "worst" films.

Not as much as The Man With the Golden Gun, mind you.

"Star Trek: Into Darkness" is not remotely one of the worst films of the decade. Neither is it a anything less than a very excellent film.

It's only terrible to certain fanboys who want it to magically restore the Star Trek universe they knew as lads.

But it is a lame remake of WOK. wink

Boy did we see two different films. There's dumb, and then there is "Into Darkness".

"Cold fusion" bomb anyone. LOL.

A Star ship that can hide from a planet's population in, oh... I don't know, space, is flown into the planet to, are you ready for it? Be hidden under an ocean. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

How about Spooks epic foot chase through the gritty streets of the Federation to tow-the-line with Khan. Those outfits were not designed to look cool when running. I started singing the theme to shaft when I saw that scene. Good times.

This film may be the greatest love letter to MST3000 ever made. It's comedy gold.

Star Trek Into Darkness was good up until Khan was introduced, & then became just another generic, frantic action movie trying way too hard. Not to mention killing Kirk & then bringing him back minutes later with 'magic blood'. Thankfully Orci has been removed from his writing & directing chores for the sequel. I think paramount has learned from their previous mistakes and I am looking forward to the new sequel.

Star Trek Into Darkness seemed like the writers were pondering, "what action sequence can we write that hasn't been done before?"

It becomes too unbelievable, and plays like a cartoon. What about the characters jumping around on those flying vehicles near the end? Dodgy CGI similar to the first Raimi Spiderman film. People can't do those kind of things without being hurt.

Too much big spectacle, and little substance.

Yes, I'm a fanboy of all the previous Star Trek series and films, and also quite easily accept (and enjoy) a lot of remakes or re-imagining of films/TV for today's audience. I'll like them for what they are, rather than doing comparisons. I really enjoy the big spectacle blockbusters being made these days (all the superhero movies, Transformers, etc), so don't have a problem with other movies that can be considered a big CGI mega-event.

But I didn't find anything engaging in the new Star Trek films.

Ironically once I was completely spoiled on the fact it was a lame WOK remake, I actually enjoyed the film. Far more than the first Nu Trek film. Though it still had huge plot holes and ridiculous set ups. (Lets have our secret Federation meeting in a tall glass building) At the end of the day it was completely disposable experience.

Best achievement in a film for aggravating, counter-cinematic hand-held camera shake - with or without entry/exit snap focus with zoom for intentional image displacement effect.

The Master and X-Men: First Class are some of the worst of the decade? They could have fooled me!

How about Righteous Kill? Cop Out? Alien vs. Predator: Requiem?!

Er, that's saying something. To actually know without seeing a film that it's not worth seeing without having actually seen it. Like, I'm impressed! wink
