We'll just have to wait and see. After all -- one never knows, do one?

Will the supposed rejected score by William Grant Still, who was originally hired, possibly be included if recorded?

Bruce has revealed on another forum that the soundtrack for this 1943 all-black Fox musical is "coming shortly" from Kritzerland. It was already released years ago on the Fox/Arista label. Yes, you have THAT version of it, taken from 1/4inch reel-to-reel tape. This version is something wholly other, a two CD set with everything, including the bits of underscore and the complete numbers (some are truncated in the film). It's an astonishing piece of work and is one of the most glorious things I've ever heard.

Bruce, that's surpassingly wonderful news. As ever, I look forward to being one of your very happy customers. *** PS: If there IS any chance of pursuing other Fox musicals, might I be so bold as to suggest: DADDY LONG LEGS. This classic has never had a proper release, not even in the 1955 LP era. The remarkable synthesis of music by Mercer, North and Newman certainly deserves preservation, and I, for one, would love to hear the unheard song, "History of the Beat," which (except for its introductory verse) was deleted from the film...

Young will be with us at some point - it's still being worked on. Stormy Weather is next. Many good things coming after. I've been busy opening a show I directed. Crazy.

I hope some of these missing songs will be on there, especially "Nobody": http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=82397&archive=0
