I do think it's funny that Jerome is issuing two compilations based on his years in TD (which altogether, sparing a dozen or so tracks, encompass the band's worst output, thanks in no small part to "TDJRome"). I don't agree at all about Jerome being behind the band's "worst output". Many times during that 1990 - 2006 period (when he was in the band) I felt it was Jerome's material which was sounding better and more exciting than Edgar's more trite-sounding stuff. But yes, Jerome releasing compilations and at the same time saying "opportunism is not something I find appealing" is strange indeed, and giving people a sour taste in their mouths.

A tribute concert is in the planning stage, but I doubt any of the majors (Schulze, Franke, Schmoelling, Hoenig) besides Baumann will show up. Haslinger, perhaps. Jerome? Unlikely, but since he's local, he could change his mind. Whatever bad blood there is/was between Edgar and Chris lingers to this day, and strangely enough, Johannes never made any public remark about Edgar's passing.

If there will be a tribute concert, I don't see Franke appearing. Schulze perhaps - they met not too many years ago after a festival they both played at. Hoenig maybe too, although he was indeed a shorttime member of TD. Schmoelling may not have commented on Edgars passing, but I dont think he had anything but admiration towards Edgar. I dont think JS ever said a bad word about him, so a tribute concert could happen.

What's the deal with Chris Franke and Edgar Froese? Is it a Roger Waters/David Gilmour or Roger Hodgson/Rick Davies situation where one part feels the other part was too dominating (and pissed off that the other one was using the band name after he left)? I just guess Edgar got very disappointed when Franke left in 1987 after 16 years in the band. I guess Edgar would have wanted to continue the creative partnership. That is really all I know about it. (Edgar was known for talking a bit harsh about certain things, so maybe we should not put too much emphasis on it.) On the other hand, Franke never really talked about Edgar after he left, neither positively nor negatively.

Franke himself has been quite 'off the map' in his post-B5 days. He's obviously DONE stuff now and then (and it is my understanding that he currently works on the AMAZING RACE reality series -- having been a regular composer for reality shows in the 2000s), but no high-profile stuff. So one would think he had benefitted from a TD appearance. But I guess he's content with where he is. My impression is that the Amazing Race producers just use Franke's library material. I don't think he writes original music for it. Franke hasn't scored a feature since 2005, and his last TV film was 5 years ago, so he is indeed off the map now. Edgar Rothermich talks about his work with Franke in my interview here: http://my-blog-of-interviews.webnode.com/edgar-rothermich/
