I adore this score. Can't wait to get my paws on it. Best release this year for me thus far! I wouldn't call it "best release this year" for me, but I very much understand your personal connection to it (mentioned in the Paul Glass Kritzerland thread) and I myself am very fond of both film and score in this case. Soapdish is HILARIOUS. A unique comedy with a great cast. I guess there are some similarities with Tootsie but frankly I think the latter has really aged in places and Soapdish entertains me much more. Yavar

I just received a big package from SAE, and this CD was in it. I blasted it in my car yesterday. This score is a gem, and kudos to Quartet for considering it worthy of expansion. It's a bonafide great time. Some of the additional cues are short interstitials, but they are so in keeping with the Latin and/or melodrama that they fit perfectly into the program. As I mentioned, I've always liked this score, how it works in the film as well as on record. The new edition is essentially more of the same, but this is a case where more is better, because it's so breezy that it never outstays its welcome. It also has the benefit of being really well performed; it sounds like the musicians are having a blast playing the score. Comedy scores often get sidelined here, but they often make really great albums (e.g. Soapdish, Max Dugan Returns, Moon Over Parador, so many Elmer Bernstein scores, etc.).

Did this sell out? It's not in stock at Intrada or MM.

I love that score. It really shows what a great composer Silvestri is. The movie btw. is also very funny and entertaining. Anyway, a great release.
