I hadn't heard about TWISTED NERVE, but that would be great news.

But Bruce, thanks for continuing to release these Herrmann scores. I missed the Varese Herrmann box, so with THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, and now BENEATH THE 12-MILE REEF, I'm simply thrilled.

What fortyone said!

Perhaps Kritzerland will be the one to make me still more happy, and let me hear Sydney Goldsmith sing ALL of "Struttin' with Some Barbecue" from COTTON CLUB (1984).

I was wrong. The song is "Barbecue Bess".

I have listen to this set many times over the last couple of weeks and cannot get over how wonderful it is!

A big disappointment is the paltry liner notes, which were mostly carried over from the previous 1990's release. Despite the abundance of material, there is little information given about the vocalists, musicians or recording sessions. Some of the vocalists are credited on the back cover, but none of the musicians. Is there anyplace where this information is readily available?

The liner notes are by Nick Redman and are and were intended as an overview. There is almost no paperwork on this title - that was a problem back then and even more of a problem now with more material. The only reason you see vocalists credited on the new bonus material is because I recognized their voices. As I say in my portion of the notes, I also pretty much knew who the vocalist was on Nobody and I state it there, but I had no way to corroborate it factually, which is why I put it there instead of on the inlay card. These things aren't always so cut and dried as everyone would like. Had there been paperwork, it would have been a different story.

I am astonished that no one has posted about CD2 track 5 "Alfred the Moocher" sung by none other than the incredible Cab Calloway! It must certainly be the only porno ode to the esteemed Mr. Newman ever written or sung! Priceless and Hysterical!

I played my copy today for the first time and was going to post the same thing. "Alfred the Moocher" is great! I'd love to know if Mr. Newman was present when this was recorded. While listening to it I was imagining Cab Calloway did it as a surprise during a scoring session.
