Only when they bury me in the ground. Saw JOHN WICK recently and had a blast with that. CAPTAIN AMERICA: The Winter Soldier was nothing short of outstanding... A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD: Total piece of shit, it was just an awful film. Can't wait until AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. I guess I'm just young at heart. Ford A. Thaxton

With action films, I'm thinking of the likes of; Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, The Bourne films, Mad Max, Bad Boys 2, stuff like that. The CGI specials, like all these superhero movies, I do find tedious, but I don't think that's an age thing.

I'm getting too old for truly stupid action movies, like PAIN & GAIN, and as the good liberal Democrat that I am, I'm becoming increasingly offended by the presentation of over-the-top, unrealistic gun violence as "fun" viewing. I went to see LOOPER and thought that movie degenerated into stupid gun violence. I went to JOHN WICK and enjoyed it as a ridiculous revenge movie, but the excessive amount of head-shot gun kills in it was, to put it mildly, more than a little disturbing, especially in regards to it being "entertainment." Maybe if you're in ISIS this is your idea of entertainment, but as a peaceable average American, I was troubled.

If you get shot or stabbed your going down. I see so many shows and movies where a character is shot at point blanch range and isn't hit, or is hit multiple times but still manages to fight or escape. Hell there was an episode of Copper where the dude had a broken leg and manage to outfight a gang on men and run away! Captain America Winter Soldier was the last straw for me. I'm still young at heart and love sci fi and action films, if they are done with some sense of intelligence and have some basis in fictional reality.

[startquote by RoryR]..... I went to JOHN WICK and enjoyed it as a ridiculous revenge movie, but the excessive amount of head-shot gun kills in it was, to put it mildly, more than a little disturbing,(end quote) In the film, WICK was a trained killer/assassin. Two shots to center of mass and one to the head and no one gets back up. A trained killer/assassin, and most probably, if it were real life, a very dangerous sociopath, and I say the same thing about James Bond and Dirty Harry if they were real people. I watched every episode of "Sons of Anarchy" but it doesn't make me want to join a motorcycle club, fire an AK-15 or whatever, or bang a chick who does porn. Unfortunetly, it's presented as if it's cool. It's not.

I've always believed that 98% of those who post here *require* violence action in their movies. After all, very few of you have ever showed interest in films outside of those genres that are jam packed with explosions, spaceships, gunfights, brutal serial murders, sword/light saber duels, et al. Well I love Barry Lyndon, one of the most languid movies ever made, granted it does have a few duels, but I would say it is not an action movie, or violent, and it is darn gorgeous. Then Lawrence of Arabia, probably one of the greatest cinema achievements and most praised movies ever is pretty bloody and violent and has explosions, but there are no spaceships.

Action movies today are almost exclusively in the realm of fantasy, they're that unrealistic in all respects. They make WHERE EAGLES DARE look like a documentary. next up, Where Eagles Dare - reboot, with an all high school girl / multi-ethnic and racially balanced cast, again no spaceships
