FRIDAY, MARCH 6

THE EXPENDABLES---Fox miniseries underway based on the Sylvester Stallone movie franchise with Stallone as executive producer. The miniseries will unite iconic tv action stars as The Expendables battle a deadly terrorist. Speculation on cast candidates include Tom Selleck, Scott Bakula, Chuck Norris, David Hasselhoff, Richard Dean Anderson, Kiefer Sutherland, Lucy Lawless and Jennifer Garner. Two more movie sequels and an all-female spinoff movie, THE EXPENDABELLES, are planned.

JESSE STONE---Hallmark Movies & Mysteries signed a deal with Sony Television for two more Jesse Stone tv movies after CBS ended the franchise in 2012. Tom Selleck said, "Just about anywhere I go, people come up to me and ask 'When can I see the next 'Jesse Stone?' Thanks to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, I can happily say it's coming soon."
The first Hallmark movie, JESSE STONE: LOST IN PARADISE, is being co-written by Selleck, who said about the plot, “Jesse’s problem is he’s done too good of a job of cleaning up Dodge. He’s not doing anything but writing parking tickets, which is not very good for him. He needs something. He goes to Boston, which is a little bit of a commute, and tries to find a homicide that they would like solved.”

A WILDERNESS OF ERROR---movie underway based on the book by Errol Morris (THE THIN BLUE LINE, THE FOG OF WAR) about Green Beret doctor Jeffrey MacDonald who was convicted for murdering his wife and two daughters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1970. The murder case inspired another book which was made into the 1984 miniseries FATAL VISION which starred Gary Cole, Karl Malden, Eva Marie Saint and Andy Griffith.

FAULTS---photo released from the movie starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) and Leland Orser (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN) in which a couple hire the world's leading cult expert to deprogram their daughter who was a member of a mysterious cult called the Faults.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD---Connor Sheet, a reporter for THE BIRMINGHAM NEWS, sent a letter to reclusive author Harper Lee in an attempt to get an interview. Lee sent his letter back, now "wrinkled and refolded," with her reply written at the bottom: "Go away! Harper Lee."

OVERNIGHT AT 42ND STREET---Walt Disney Pictures family comedy movie in which a recently-divorced man and his estranged son encounter a hostage situation in a large New York toy store. Jared Hess (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, NACHO LIBRE) is the director.

TOY STORY 4---Pixar head Jim Morris commented on the next movie in the franchise, "I think this movie is not part of this trilogy...It is not a continuation of the end of the story of TOY STORY 3. Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children..."

THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE---movie underway in which father-and-son coroners must solve the mystery surrounding the body of a beautiful woman with no apparent cause of death. Brian Cox (BRAVEHEART) and Emile Hirsch (LONE SURVIVOR) star.

SUPERGIRL---Faran Tahir (IRON MAN, STAR TREK) will play a military villain known as The Commander in the CBS series.

NEW YORK MAYOR---Alec Baldwin stars in this untitled HBO pilot as a billionaire real estate developer who becomes mayor of New York after tragedy strikes the incumbent mayor.

The first two are likely too busy with their own TV series to be available, for a start. (Also, I can see Lucy Lawless doing this but Jennifer Garner?)

Garner hasn't really been doing much of anything these days, and certainly nothing high-profile except for a few kids' movies. Much bigger names have slummed to TV in the past few years.
