Trance artist van Dyk (and Eduardo Gamboa) composed the score for this 2003 movie, and a 2CD soundtrack album is available, with van Dyk and Gamboa having one disc each. Anyone here who has heard this? Thor?

PS: Seems like van Dyk also co-composed the 2004 movie One Perfect Day.

It's also here with only van Dyk's music:

No, I've never heard his film music and was -- in fact -- unaware that he had done original scores (I knew that his songs had been used in films, of course). Thanks for the heads-up. I'll definitely check this out now.

So I bought ZURDO on iTunes. Excellent score -- just as smooth and vibrant as I had expected. I'm guessing he did a fair amount of re-mixing and re-arranging of the cues before the album was released, though, because it sounds like a regular studio album (I'm not that interested in watching the film to compare, to be honest -- maybe if I have some spare time at some point).

Van Dyk should do more scores.

Are most of the tracks up-tempo? I just have a hard time imagining how van Dyk would score emotional or "slow" moments, with his intense and hard-hitting music.

It's a little bit of both. He's always been good on slower textures too, even within his existing trance music.

I had a listen to some clips and liked what I heard. And watching a bit of the movie as well suggests that Gamboa's score is worth a listen. A shame that Gamboa's contribution doesn't appear to be easily found.

Really? I didn't think was your cup of tea.

I have no idea where Van Dyk stops and Gamboa begins.

The original 2 CD version has Gamboa's score on the second CD. The first disc is van Dyk's music and has been released digitally.

That's true. I forgot that. What I bought on iTunes was only the Van Dyk material.

Haha well... I've seen PVD at Creamfields a couple of years ago, it's funny to think that same person composes scores for movies. I used to listen to his sets so much, loved his music. Politics of Dancing 2 was really great and his own productions where nice. Paul Oakenfold did the same and I guess BT as well.

I'll check out this movie when I have time. What I would REALLY LOVE is for Above & Beyond to score a film. They actually said in an interview that they would like to score one if they had the chance too. I recommend everyone to listen to their debut album Tri State, IMHO the best electronic album ever produced. Unfortunately the deviated from that style with their 2 following albums.

I always confused Above & Beyond with Angels & Airwaves, which of course DID score a film -- the superb sci fi film LOVE directed by Will Eubank.

I'm a big fan of the "Above & Beyond presents Oceanlab - Sirens Of The Sea" album.
