Interesting article here, though I don't see mention of either the author or the date. (And the photo at the top make me think first of certain Cuban leaders!)

What's the current video situation? I watched via Amazon streaming, which was not ideal. There was a BluRay, but it's now OP? Playable on USA equipment?

The U.K. Arrow label Blu-Ray does seem to be out of print although it's available from sellers on Amazon. It's region free.

I'd like to see Criterion release OBSESSION on Blu-ray in the US. They've certainly released other Di Palma films.

Just enjoying this the day after revisiting MBR'S issue of the OST &.... again, both are essential, great job & atta boys to James F. & Nick R. on the Tadlow recording.
I love the newly heard counter lines at the end of 'The Papers' (track 15).
That's all, thanks for your hard work & (unfortunate) financial pain to keep the world a better place :-)

Yet another example of a rerecording done right. The overall sound on this really gives me the chills, especially through 5.1

WA, I've been kinda tracking your discovery of "all this" and....I'm jealous! It was so great to gradually discover piece after piece anew. Enjoy the journey!
Sidebar, but, yes, they killed it on this one, I'm so happy there are at least two (3 with the album edit) choices of this important work for us to enjoy.

I've taken long musical journeys through multiple genres, each one was amazing! I spend hours listening when I'm not writing.

As stone cold cuckoo as I am over Goldsmith's Omen score, I really think Bernard should have taken the Oscar that year for Obsession. The latter work really summed up the romantic-yet-suspenseful style he pioneered in Vertigo. It's a wonderful masterpiece that holds up just fine as absolute music, and I think it, the aforementioned Vertigo, Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Fahrenheit 451...all will still be performed (quite possibly as regular concert music) into the next century.

I think folks like Tadlow are doing something so important for film music...partly by proving it's just as worthy of performance and re-recordings as Concert music. The condescending tone music scholars took toward film music for so much of its existence has settled down progressively since the seventies, and it will continue to do so as the old classics continue kicking the living offal outta most of the new (yeah, imo).

I got home after work and put Tadlow's Blu-ray of Obsession in the player and then wound up the volume. It's so good. The horns can play!
