Just discovering this score and WOW. I'm guessing a decent release of this is still a pipe dream. But from what I've heard, this is so, so good. Classic Kamen!

Much like Flash Gordon and Ghostbusters, the songs and score worked perfectly in tandem in the film and would make a smashing combined release. Highlander was a perfect storm for me when I first saw it. I was in my melancholy phase when I rented the VHS and it hit me just right. Especially the scene where Connor says goodbye to the dying Heather as "Who Wants to Live Forever" is cranking. But Kamen's score is beautifully uplifting in parts, especially the training scenes with Connery. The series totally unable to recapture the spirit and feeling of the original and it really should have been a "one and done" film. Disclaimer: I never saw the TV series.

Kamen's score probably works best as a suite, all the good stuff is there. Obviously that opinion is subjective to the listener so from this listener in reply..no and no.! Indeed it's my opinion. The suites are a great listening experience, encapsulating the best of the score. Love to hear the extended and film versions of the Queen material, though. I'm the complete opposite. I'd love to hear the full Kamen music and none of the Queen music. I personally found Queen to be a bit ill-fitting and overrated in the film, and most of the songs have already been released on their albums anyway. Interesting. The Queen music is a huge part of the film's appeal. The film itself isn't great, it doesn't make sense, but I do enjoy watching it because it's larger than life. It's a pretty ridiculous film. I always loved how Sean Connery is Scottish and DOESN'T play the Scottish character, who is instead played by a French dude. The whole Terminator-esque out-of-time-traveller-in-a-trench-coat-on-the-mean-streets is just wonderful New Wave bliss, and who doesn't like seeing helicopter shots swooping around guys swinging swords on remote mountaintops? Also, does anyone notice the parallels between Highlander and Outlander? Sweeping romance, Scottish Highlands, time traveling...
